rekordbox FLAC meta data

Hi,

I need some help with meta data handling for FLAC files. I am starting to use FLAC files in rekordbox. When loading the files into rekordbox I don't see any metadata of the file.

Right now I am using mp3tag (for Windows) to manage the metadata of my MP3 and FLAC. However it looks like rekordbox is not reading the metadata as I would have expected. Just for the FLACs, the MP3 are ok.

Maybe I am doing something wrong. Can someone educate me a bit on the FLAC metadata so that rekordbox can read them.

Thanks.

Frank Richter

What I have seen meanwhile is that some of the FLAC metadata is shown in rekordbox for some files. The only difference so far I was able to find is the libFLAC version used.

The files the metadata is shown is: reference libFLAC 1.2.1 20070917

The files the metadata is not shown is: reference libFLAC 1.3.0 20130526

Not sure this could be the reason.
Any suggestions?

ANother finding. It seems to be important what software is used to write the tags. I tried mp3Tag Pro 12.1 and it seem to work with the tags. But this is a paid software.

I am looking for a free software to do the job.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Hi Frank,

I'm taking my first steps implementing FLAC in rekordbox. What I want to do is to edit the metadata with a 3rd party tool and make the files write-protected to ensure Rekordbox won't mess with the work being put into the files themselves.

I'm trying out a free player with metadata editing capabilities recommended by the FLAC organisation, called Foobar2000

Windows: https://www.foobar2000.org/download

Mac: https://www.foobar2000.org/mac

I'm eager to know if you have had any progress in mapping out what works and what doesn't since your last post.

I can let you know what I figure out along the way.

Best,

Hjálmur

Hey Frank,

Check your setting in MP3tag that it writes to v2.4.

Rekordbox uses this version of IDtags for their database.

I import FLAC, AIFF into RB and edit tags before importing them. And what I changed in MP3Tag is reflected RB.

All.

Thanks for your comments. In the meantime I don't have any issues with the tags anymore. I am using TagScanner (for Windows) and it works well with MP3 and FLAC files.

Cheers.
