Manual rekordbox back up

Hey guys and gals, quick question.

I did not back up my rekordbox library when my hard drive crashed. I am, however, able to access the files on it. I am wondering if there is any possible way to salvage library data from the old drive so I won’t have to reimport and regrid and set memory locations again. I do appreciate any help I can get. Thank you

You'll have to find an IT specialist who will try to extract the info from the drive.

Does the drive start when hooked up or does it not respond/recognise at all.

Hey Joe,

Yes - if you can read the files, you can certainly pull that data back into rekordbox.

Hopefully you're using the same username on the new Windows install, as that makes this process easier.

First, install rekordbox and launch it. Get things set up and whatnot, then quit rekordbox.

If you're on a Mac, open these folder locations on the old drive and copy them over to the new:

/Users/<username>/Library/Pioneer/rekordbox
/Users/<username>/Library/Application Support/rekordbox
/Users/<username>/Library/Application Support/rekordbox6

If you're on Windows, find them here:

C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Pioneer\rekordbox
C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Pioneer\rekordbox6

So with those folders copied to the same places on the new drive in your active user, it should work.

BUT! If your username is different, you'll wind up with some problems because rekordbox won't be looking in the right places for things. Within the rekordbox6 folder, look for the rekordbox3.settings file and make changes to any entry where there is a path. For example:

<VALUE name="pioneerDirectory" val="C:/Users/oldusername/AppData/Roaming/Pioneer/rekordbox"/>

Change oldusername for your current user's path.

Now, does this mean it's going to work 100%? Nope. Unfortunately there may still be a few quirks such as the waveform data missing, and at the very least, you have your playlists back. Using the same username is the most guaranteed method to have a functional library.
