Problem streaming mic with DDJ-1000, rekordbox

I have the following setup -

DDJ-1000, rekordbox running on Mac OS bigsur, and a microphone going into the DDJ-1000.

I am also running BUTT and using blackhole software.

My goal is to be able to stream music and microphone to a shoutcast server using BUTT.

At the moment I can stream the music, but cannot stream the mic. I understand this is a restriction of the DDJ-1000s in that although they send the microphone into the mac via the USB port, it does not get sent to the rekordbox output and thus cannot be captured by BUTT.

We've already upgraded from DDJ-800 to DDJ-1000 thinking that it would work, but it seems we were mistaken.

I am now thinking about the possibility of getting a soundcard and then connecting the DDJ-1000 into the mac via RCA so that we can get the mic in that way, or connecting a mic directly to the mac via soundcard, but getting a bit lost as to a) what the best option is and b) what will actually work.

Just wondering if anyone has a similar setup that actually works?

Goal is just to be able to broadcast music and audio with DDJ-1000, Mac and rekordbox. To a shoutcast server (provided by radio.co).

First and foremost, our drivers have not yet been validated for Big Sur compatibility. We're waiting on Apple to release the 11.2 update.

Second, the mic is available with inputs 11/12 - but the software isn't capable of recognizing those inputs, so you need an application like Loopback or SoundSiphon to re-route the audio from 11/12 down to 1/2 for the BUTT input. Blackhole doesn't (yet) support this remapping; it's been on their request list for over a year, but that's the nature of open-source projects. JACK used to be the tool for this but the GUI was discontinued when macOS forced the update to 64bit applications.

If you don't want to go the route of Loopback or SoundSiphon (both paid apps), you can consider using another audio interface to capture the master out from the DDJ.

Thanks for the quick reply. I must admit, I had to use a workaround to get the device working in bigsur. Working on this project remotely for a client, so wasn't possible to downgrade the mac at the moment.

What are inputs 11/12? Is that the USB interface? So in short, if I install loopback then I would be able to send music and microphone to BUTT? I so, great; I will try that.

I did see the guide for JACK, but as you pointed out, I don't think its compatible any longer with latest mac OS bigsur - I could not get it working anyway.

Since posting this thread, my client has actually ordered an external soundcard and we are planning on running an RCA cable from master out or booth on the DDJ-1000, into soundcard and then from soundcard into the laptop - I don't know if I mentioned that in the opening post, but I am hoping this will work, on the basis that I understand the microphone output IS sent to both master out and booth. Thus hopefully this will work, even if we do still have to use loopback software as well, rather than blackhole.

Can you let me know your thoughts on that? This kit will arrive Thursday so I will try that setup and optionally I will also try loopback with the existing setup.

Yes; the external soundcard would work to get the audio (incl. the mic) from the master output of the DDJ into the laptop.

Loopback is the software alternative to do it all in the same computer without external hardware, it provides a path to re-map the input from the DDJ (which is the master signal carried on inputs 11/12) to a virtual audio device which the broadcasting software can address (on 1/2).

Hi - I've been trying to do this too without success.

I tried putting Blackhole 16 channel as the output device and monitoring in Ableton, I can see audio appearing Channels 1/2 (master), 3/4 (phones) and 5/6 (booth) but nothing on any of the other channels when I speak into the mic.

I can still hear the mic in my headphones connected to DDJ1000 if I press the Master CUE button (although no music).

So I'm not sure how loopback would help if the audio is not appearing.

I have a couple of questions.
- When I record in Rekordbox the mic is recorded along with the music so why is it not merged with the audio of the master when selecting "Output audio to computer soundcard"?

- Maybe there are some people who do not want this - so could rekordbox not just provide an option to Merge Mic into Master Output?

This and the fact of being able to use the built in talk-over feature would mean it would be much better if there was just an option in rekordbox to merge the mic into the output signal. It's already doing it for the recording facility so I can't imagine it's technically that difficult.

Additionally it would be good to be able to explicitly choose which audio output you want it to go to for the 2nd output - rather than just computer Soundcard - it would be good to be able to choose Blackhole or Loopback for example so that I can still listen on the computer without redirecting all sound.
The problem was that when I tried to stream - someone called me on my phone - and the phone rang on my computer and it was recorded to the stream. Any other sounds made on the computer will be streamed too.
