Midi help for my sp16 rig

I can't figure out how to set up my rig to trigger the SP 16 to stop playing with a midi command coming from the GCP foot switch.  Any help is greatly appreciated!!

You would need to have your footswitch send the general MIDI STOP signal.

how do i find a list of midi commands that i can assign to the footswitch?  I don't know what the midi command is to stop?  Ideally, I'd like to be able to set it up so that a track starts when I hit a footswitch button.  I can see the "IN" light up on the Toraiz when I hit the footswitch, but I don't know what it's actually doing

That depends 100% on your footswitch. Some are just a "dumb" switch that sends an on/off signal, and it's up to the device it's connected-to for the interpretation of that signal, whereas others are actual MIDI footswitches capable of transmitting a specific MIDI note or CC. You may need to route it to software to translate it in that case.

Dope setup! So, here's the thing. The Voodoo Labs Ground Control Pro only generates MIDI CC messages, not Start/Stop messages (these are also referred to as System Real Time, or Transport messages in MIDI lingo).

So if you want to start and stop SP-16 (or any sequencer) in your rig with a pedal, you'll have to either do as Pulse said, which is use a physical device like a BomeBox to translate CC messages into Start/Stop messages...but that gets finicky and too "softwarey" for some.

An even simpler way is to get the "One Trick Pony Start Stop Pedal" for $75

https://reverb.com/marketplace?query=midi%20start%20stop%20pedal

and merge it into your MIDI path directly between your Voicelive and your SP-16...using a simple MIDI Merge Box, of which there are several out on the market.
