No, sounds like there is either a bit of dirt/dust that's causing it, or maybe a bad bearing on the spindle. Either way, return it for an exchange with your dealer!
Hi all, I just bought a new DDJ 1000 yesterday (Mar 2, to be exact), and the first thing I noticed after I unpacked the unit was a scratching / rattling / scraping sound when rotating the jog wheels.
I recorded a video of this (YouTube):
YouTube: Brand New DDJ 1000 - Scraping jog wheel sounds? IS THIS NORMAL?

I've also posted about this on reddit to get the opinions of other DJ's who've purchased the DDJ 1000.

However, I knew I needed to also post this to experts at Pioneer directly.
My question is: Is this normal? I am well within my return window, but I don't want to get another unit only to get the exact same result. But to be honest, it truly does not sound like what I would expect from a $2000 device (I'm in Canada, and after tax, it came out to almost $2G in Canadian dollars). I can literally feel the plastic-on-plastic scraping. And the rattling is of even greater concern.
Thanks for any help! I just want to get this resolved ASAP so I can get back to playing on this awesome controller (I *LOVE* the on-jog displays)!
