Rekordbox 6 - High CPU usage

Yes, I've used the search and noticed there are a few threads about the same subject already. But none of those threads offered a solution and most were pretty old threads anyway.

Anyway, I've noticed that RB6 has a much higher CPU usage than RB5. Sometimes it gets so high, music is actually breaking up - something I obviously never want to see happening during a gig.

Video, Light, Lyrics are all disabled. It's not analyzing tracks. But CPU Usage is *always* at least 35%, even at complete idle.

Any ideas?

That's perfectly normal; you'll find most DJ applications are consuming between 15-35% when idle, and it depends on your computer's specs as to whether or not that's a a concern as some will report the CPU usage as a portion of the available cores or threads. For example, mine will show up to 800% usage (100% per core).

I understand that. But I was comparing it to RB5. I have no problems whatsoever with RB5. On the same laptop. But when I run RB6, CPU usage is much higher than in RB5 and sometimes it gets so high, music actually starts to break up.

Hi, just want to back the problem of the cpu usage with RB6 i think the problem is worst since last update, if your engineers could take a look at this issue Pulse it would be great.

thanks

I third this - I am absolutely livid.  So let me get this straight - now I'm paying a subscription fee to use the video and other functions I already paid for, and on top of this now I discover this CPU utilization problem??  I'm sorry - my Macbook exceeds all specs listed as required, and I NEVER had this issue on RB5 - I've done music video mixing while controlling lighting with the DMX plugin.  Now, literally when I just hit play on two tracks and nothing else I can hear my fans start spinning up, and at points like Cliff said the vid starts getting choppy as the waveform travels.  That is not "normal"!!!!  I have like 6 gigs coming up in the next few weeks and I'm afraid this is going to be unusable!  I am PISSED!

Guys - I think I figured out the problem at least in my case!  It was the visualizers in the video section.  Cool feature, but spikes CPU.  Is there any way to make it use the GPU instead?  I went through several iterations and each time, when I enabled the visualizers.... CPU spike... turn them off... CPU goes back down and sits at about 50-60% with two tracks playing.  If you have them enabled, try changing the setting to "Do Nothing" instead.  This fixed it for me.
