Has anybody else noticed, that RGB waveforms are becoming choppy during transitions?
Especially when one track are ending and starts flashing?
Today, on couple occasions, waveforms completely froze for an half a second.
It does not happen when I use Blue "old school" waveforms.
Firmware on my unit, is the latest 1.38.
USB sticks, I generally use are Samsung Fit Plus 64GB USB3.1.
Also tried with SanDisk Ultra Dual Drive 256GB USB3.1 stick, pretty much the same happened.
Both support over 155MB/s (Samsung is over 200MB/s) read, so speed should not be an problem, considering that USB slots on these devices are 2.0 anyways.
This is driving me nuts, I love RGB waveforms (3-band is not an option on RX2 unfortunately), but this way I simply cannot use them, without my eyes starting to bleed at the end of each track. :D
All tips would be helpful.
I'd suspect the drive is the culprit; please try using something a bit more performance-oriented. Remember that the maximum read/write speeds advertised by the manufacturer are for large continuous data chunks, not the small read/writes of small files such as those used by the waveform or album art. The SanDisk Extreme Pro are certainly much better and should perform without issue for you in either port.

Interestingly, it seems that USB2 is more prone to this, even when not recording.
Ordered couple of these, maybe this issue will go away, maybe not, we'll see.
As an last resort, as my friend is running gear rental company, I can borrow couple of CDJ2000NXS2 and test USB sticks on these, unfortunately I have no other XDJ's to test.
Received my new USB sticks today and guess what, nothing changed, same choppiness with RGB waveforms. :(

Issue itself appears ~00:28 - 00:35 and to the human eye, it is much more apparent/annoying than through camera lense, even when filming on 60FPS.
I have reformatted all USB's, re-exported everything, same result.
To rule out, problem with MP3 audio files themselves, tried different tracks from different albums and sources, same results.
Reproduction success rate with different songs is around 20/80, on very-very rare occasions, it still does seem to appear, but is lot less severe and not that noticeable.
It kind of looks like, as for some reason GPU starts suddenly dropping frames (until it is completely unable to keep up) due to RGB waveforms being more taxing, than "old school" Blue ones, which work fine.
I don't expect it to be completely "buttery" smooth, knowing that these are low refresh rate displays, but I would expect it not to have complete freezes or jumps like these.
Without any knowledge about actual HW being used under the hood, it is hard to guess, what is exactly going on.
Completely unable to produce this on CDJ2000NXS2 (using same USB sticks, tracks, etc.), but they only need to render single waveform at the time, so probably it is much easier on the device CPU/GPU. Also they probably have much beefier HW under the hood?

Were those both MP3s or another filetype (and if MP3, are either of them variable bitrate)?
Yes, both are MP3 files.
In that video I made:
"Deck 1" - CBR 320kbps/44.1/Stereo
"Deck 2" - VBR 245Kbps/44.1/Joint Stereo
According to Mp3val scan, both files are OK.
Also, this issue is not actually file specific ;)

No worries - if we need the files, I'll ask you to email them. Can you tell me if you have the same problem when both songs are CBR?
Did a quick check (to be sure), yes I can reproduce it with both files being identical: CBR 320kbps/44.1/Stereo
Are the drives FAT32 or HFS+?
All FAT32, formatted with HP USB Disk Storage Format Tool.
Unfortunately I cannot test HFS+ (I don't own a Mac).
Some drives, I have formatted multiple times (Including that Sandisk Pro in the video) and re-exported to rule out filesystem related errors/glitches.
Ok, it is something with files, identified exactly 15 files, which cause such behaviour.
Not sure why though, mp3val says everything is okay with them, if I re-encode them, issue does not appear.
As I sold the unit and will be moving on into more high-end gear, I guess we can consider this solved, at least for my personal perspective.
