[CLOSED] DJM 700 fader problem - music always playing

I have the same problem!!! just found of it today :(

I am having this problem with channel 1, all other channels are working and cross fader is working 100%....

I removed the plate from the faders section and changed channel 1 piece (not working) for channel 3 piece (working) cross fader and i found that channel 1 piece worked well on channel 3 socket, and, channel 3 piece didnt worked on channel 1 socket....

That means that the problem was not the cross faders, it must be something else... please please help...

I had the same problem with faders and cross fader, when cross fader was all the way left to post a, i could hear post b... sold it and got a DJM 900 wonder if the same thing will happen in the future???

Yes it is only out the master. It is also only channel 2. Headphones perform as they should. So when I press CUE I hear channel 2 play, when CUE is not pressed, I don't hear anything through my headphones.

I am living in Tilburg (The Netherlands) and my mixer is from February 2009.

I have the 700 and I have beaten the hell out of that thing. Played outdoor events, in the sun, windy dusty desert conditions. No issues with it at all. But I did have some jacked up cables once and had issues with noise and humming and channel problems. Changed out the XLR cables and then things were good. Not sure if that helps or what but was an odd moment.

I had something similar happen to my mixer a while back, and I traced it back to the crossfader curve assign.  Try shutting the mixer off, changing the curve to something else, then restart the mixer.  I had some channel bleed through when I had it set to the hard-cut curve.  Haven't had it happen since.

@ DjsPm:  If you're having humming problems, it's a grounding issue (i.e. the "X" in XLR wasn't functioning properly).  Swapping the cables is an obvious first-pass at this problem.

Im in Mexico, my DJM 700 is from 2010, never had dis problem before until last month.

I had the same issue, but I had it when playing live, so I had to use the crossfade assign to B and all 3 channels through A, worst 10 minutes I had playing. Finally, I took it to the service and had to replace the fader on CH1, later that month CH2 with the same issue, only 3 times got out to party, the rest of the time, at home only, for what I've paid I expected much more from this mixer

Im not  be smart or any thing.i have djm 500  .it about  9 years old.never had a problem with it.i dont think anything can go wrong with it because it 2 simple..how many times in a set would you use all the effect  on the new mixer  like  700 or 800 not that many  times.so what i say is  get your self a djm 500  that will last forever.

Well I owned a 600 and a 400 both of them were always working perfect, I had bad luck with this one, so I'll probably sell it before having more issues with it, dunno what to change it for yet... maybe a 900 =)... just hope it works without the need to send it back to service

Hi, My DJM700 has just developed a similar fault affecting channels 3 and 4, whereby with the fader all the way down music still comes out of main mix(irrespective of what the cue button is doing). No such fault on channels 1 and 2 and not affecting crossfader, in fact, using the crossfader is the only way I can cue up on those channels without it going out to speakers!  Quite frustrating.  Is this simple to fix myself?  I am in UK and mixer is a little over 3 years old.  Will certainly try the suggestion of changing the crossfade curve suggested below but I have doubts this will work, I think its a more serious problem?

PS I should add that prior to this its been a great mixer and highly reliable and I still love it to bits and would highly recommend it, just hope this little issue is easily fixed.

@Dave and @Tomas > You should contact technical support (links at the right) to have them suggest a course of action for repair.

i found out how to fix the crossfader problem just take out the front panel and disconnect the crossfader cable turn on the mixer with the cable disconnected, conect the cable with the crossfader all the way to the A side its the second time its work for me hopefully it works on you 

Hey DJSam thanks for posting this I will give it a try (I've been "getting by" without using channels 3&4 except in emergencies because I can't spare the time to send off for service, not until after the new year anyway!)  If this works I'll be a v happy boy. :-)

your welcome, now my problem is with the effect section which i use alot its not fun having to deal with these kind of issues with a 1000 dollar mixer

Has a solution been found to this? I have the same problem and its really annoying that Pioneer doesn't seem to have one yet considering how much money I paid for this thing.

I had this problem crop up again.  I fixed it, and I haven't had any problems sense.  Here's what I did:

I removed the fader caps and faceplate, then I removed the crossfader completely.  I cleaned it, placed it back in, and tested it.  My guess is that there was a short in one of the connections or something, probably from turning it on its head in my flight case.  I see no reason why a similar solution wouldn't exist for the channel faders.

I tried the fix mentioned but didn't work for me.  In the end I sent mine off to UK approved repair near Colchester. Very helpful guy called Marcel and it wasn't expensive. Done within 8 days as I recall.  All back to full working order and no further issues - going strong today.  There are others around the country (e.g. one in london), so check Pioneer UK for list to see which is nearest you.

Hey guys, Just wanted to let you know that I did fix my mixer. A friend and I took the faceplate and faders out. We thoroughly cleaned the fader with plastic and silicone safe contact cleaner (please make sure it's plastic and silicone safe or you're asking for trouble) then plugged the faders in after turning the mixer on. At first it worked on all faders except for channel 1 which we later discovered had a bent bracket which we bent back into place. I'm not sure how common of a problem that is though. Everything is working just fine now.
