Another thing to note is I tried this on another friends DJM 900 and I got the same result. I know it's not Traktor because I hooked up my Kontrol S4 to it and got a perfect vinyl reading.
Hey everyone I just got my DJM 900 and I love the mixer but i'm having vinyl calibration issues. Everytime I try to calibrate the vinyl it says calibration failed, unknown medium. But the strange thing is the vinyl will still play. Here is my specs
OS X 10.6
DJM 900 FW: 1.2 and latest driver update
Traktor Scratch Pro 2.0.3
Is anyone else experiencing this problem?

I figured out the problem, it's a bug. Pioneer take note! The vinyl calibration fails everytime you try to calibrate and the only way that it will calibrate is if you change the sampling rate in Traktors preferences while the vinyl is playing.
@Ryan > If you haven't set the samplerate in the software to match the hardware, it would fail at any rate, I don't see this as a bug specific to Pioneer, but thanks for pointing it out.
Hey Pulse, even after setting the sample rate in the software to match the DJM 900 it doesn't calibrate consistently. I've tested this using brand new needles and new timecode vinyl.
Pulse, the problem isn't sample rate! When you change sample rate in traktor, automatically changes in midi-audio configuration panel.
The problem is that DJM900 input doesn't work! Ryan, read this: http://pioneerdj.zendesk.com/entries/20219946-djm-nexus-900-recording
and try to record something....you will see that audio input is very dirty and fuzzier. This is a problem of many OSX Users that use OSX 10.6.8 + latest DJM900 driver & firmware.
@Mattia > We're looking into that fuzziness issue as not all users are having the problem.
Is there still no update on this? Or if anyone else is having this issue?
Here are some of my findings, when hooking up to a DJM-900 mixer.
System used:
Latest Macbook Pro (Early 2011), running Mac OSX 10.6.8
Traktor Scratch Pro 2.0.2
Connecting the DJM-900 works perfectly, detection by system and traktor is OK
Playback audio from traktor, works perfect, on the USB audio outputs no distortion/noise
However, when looking at the timecode input (coming from CDJ-2000, connected with standard analog cable) distortion
can be seen in the Traktor calibration window like little dots everywhere in the double circle of the timecode signal.
If played a normal audio track (or listen to timecode) from USB or CD, this distortion can be heard (traktor in live input modus (play through))
as little cracks and pops on the audio signal.
Recording audio (with traktor) works fine
This was nog my DJM-900 so I could not test it extensively with other software, but I did manage to calibrate
traktor by playing with the sample rate and latency.
The higher the latency, the less distortion.
with 96khz, I could get the lowest latency of about 8ms average, but it needed several restarts of traktor to accomplish.
I also had teh idea that calibration would work if the timecode was playing when traktor starts up.
if a normal song was playing calibration would not work.
I assume this to be a driver issue..
low latency's are for my 2.2Ghz Quad core / 8GB ram macbook pro not any problem...
A fix would be nice since I'm always stressed out when connecting to a 900 on a live gig..
@Ryan > No, no solution yet, but they are working on it.
Thanks for getting back Pulse, So this is something that could be fixed through a firmware update?
I hope they will! I changed my rider from the DJM-800 to the DJM-900 since setup is like only plugging in ONE USB cable.
But it's not cool if every time you need to worry/stress if it's going to work or not..
Another point is I hope rental companies will update their DJM's too!
Even if this gets fixed won't be certain a random 900 will be updated when I arrive! :D
I hope the fix will be released very soon because in summer i will have to work in clubs&party and now I own only DJM900. I think many people now own only DJM900 and are waiting the fix ...
I have the same problems.
OS X 10.6.8
DJM 900 FW: 1.2 and latest driver update
Traktor Scratch Pro 2.0.3
Just updated the firmeware and the driver.
After the restarting the mixer it works fine again for random time. after the fuzz is back, it´s on every channel so the calbriation fail cause of the unknown sound on every channel.
fix it quick I'm expecting a working soundcard for that amount of money
any news?
I've also got calibration issues. I'm running 2 Technics 1210 MK5s and Traktor Scratch 2 with my DJM-900. Randomly, Traktor will not recognize that timecode is being used, as the calibration status just says "waiting". The problem seems to be fixed when I restart the laptop. What's the reason for this?
I have my inputs set to USB, outputs to Timecode Phono, and output to -5 dB. On Traktor, I have channel A as DJM inputs 0 and 1 (channel 1), and channel B as DJM inputs 6 and 7 (channel 4)
I'm using drivers 1.1 and firmware 1.1on a Macbook Pro. I can' t seem to update my firmware as well. When I open the firmware file from my laptop after connecting the laptop to the mixer, nothing happens. I've tried redownloading the firmware multiple times, all with the same result. In addition, when I connect the DJM to my laptop with a LAN cable, under network settings the status says "connected", but under ethernet the icon is yellow and not green, and it displays "self-assigned IP".
Any help on this? Pulse?
Thanks.
For clarity, when I open the firmware file, it seems to attempt to open, and then immediately closes. Strange. Do I need the most up to date version of OSX for the firmware to open?
I have the same problems with my Traktor 2 on MAC OSX 10.6.8!
When the next update?
Fix is coming soon, will be announced when it's available.
