Had the same problem. Make sure your using a straight trough cable and turn off your windows firewall. Should work after that. Let me know if this helps.

Can't update Firmware over LAN???
So, yet another problem with the 900 now - i go to update my firmware and follow the instructions as it says - connect LAN cable from mac to the 900 - but in 'system preferences/network/ - the ethernet is has a yellow dot (not green) and just says 'self assigned ip'
I have had to update the firmware in hope that it fixes the problem of getting all 'static/buzzy/ sounds when i use the recorder in Traktor scratch pro 2.
what am i supposed to do now?
Any help or advice would really be appreciated........

@elastic1 > Be sure to disable your Mac firewall (thanks for trying to help @Robert, but he's on a Mac!), and disable your airport too. Don't launch the update application before doing this or it won't work.
