Of course it is normal. All Pioneer mixers since DJM 500 have separate meters for each channel, so you can see level for all channels at once. They show post EQ & Gain (Trim) and pre-fader level and you don't need to press cue for this.
I have a question concerning my new Nexus 900 mixer. It's the first time I have a Pioneer mixer, and there's a thing that seems strange.
Let's say I connect a CDJ to input 1. Starts the CDJ. But I have my fader all the way down on channel 1, and I have not pressed the cue button. But the VU meter (leds) on channel 1 lights up. I thought they should only lights up, when I move the fader up or I press the cue button. Thats how it works on my old mixers.
I just want to now, if it's a mistake, or the VU meters shall react like this?

Yah - the VU meter shows you where you have signal and at what level. The cue button merely a way to toggle what you hear in your headphones.
