Using HDJ-2000s as Microphone w/ DJM-800??
Hey guys I need help!! I am trying to figure out how to use my HDJ-2000 headphones as a microphone when hooked up to my DJM800+CDJ1000s. I just want to learn how to use the microphone function of the headphones so I can talk to the crowd, and speaking into the headphones with the mic turned on does not do anything. Thanks in advance!! :)

You just need to make sure the mic section is set to ON or TALKOVER and the input you have the headphones plugged into (Mic1 or Mic2) is turned up enough that you can hear it. It works with any pair of headphones, we've been doing it since the beginning of deejaying. Only one side of the headphones will pick up your voice though, can't remember which side.

Hi Gavintech,
Do I need a special adapter to plug my headphones into the Mic1 or Mic2? How do you do this?

Just plug it in with the 1/4" adapter that comes with the headphones. The same screw on one you use to plug them into the headphone section of the mixer. I don't know if you can use Mic 1 but I think it is a XLR/1/4 input and if so you it should work. If not Mic 2 definitely works.
Yeah, few are really doing it and 'seems' like it doesn't hurt the headphones - so they say.
Tap either side of the phone to determine which one is picking up the signal.
Keep us posted if it is HDJ-2000 safe!

Awesome that works!! But GlasEye2 makes a good point, can this potentially harm the headphones sound quality??

I suppose anything is possible. I've never damaged any headphones doing it in the last 15 years though.
