DJM 900 Turning Off in the middle of a set ?

I have the DJM 900, 2 CDJ 2000, and 2 K12 with 2 K subs. Recently in the middle of my gig the DJM 900 mixer turned off then back on this happened twice during my set? I did noticed that the back of the DJM 900 mixer was very warm is this normal for the back of the DJM 900 to be very warm in the back of the mixer where the connections are?

I was thinking when I had a good bass song that I mixed in that the amps needed to power the extra boost was not there and that could have cause the mixed to shut down and restart ?

My 2 cents:

Yeah. The mixer maybe the culprit *but* maybe not.

Are you certain that your 'set' is getting enough electric current to power all the units? Are you running it thru a power conditioner? Have you check for loose connection?  The amps may be drawing all the power to feed the subs though still missing that extra boost.

Sadly no.  I have DJM 2000 and 2 x CDJ 2000 and the mixer doesn't get warm at all.  I run my set to an active sub and active speakers though just like you I have them plugged from one electric source.

I was drawn to put my comment because you mentioned that the subs were missing that 'extra' boost.  And the first suspect (for me) is the power feed, followed by the power amps, then the mixer - in that order.  Do some trouble shooting.  Isolate the mixer from the chain, feed your power amps from another source, play the same music where you noticed the 'thin' sub-woofer boost.  If you get the same result, then the DJM 900 is the problem.

Sorry.  It should read:  If you get the same result, then the DJM 900 is NOT the problem.

Sorry I am new to the boards so I am rusty with my explanations thank you for your help

I did not have an issue with sound i experienced the mixer cut out when a song with heavy bass kicked in and of course I helped it along with some extra volume lol so thought it could have been not enough wall outlet juice

I used the system last week and took it below peaking for 2 hours with no issue

Any chance it's an early one. The was a recall on the first batch made. Certain head phones would trip a safety circuit in the mixer when cranked up.

Thanks Morgo I will check it out I did just buy it last month but who knows how long it sat in the box at the store. What I did figure out is that the djm 900 does get very warm on the bottom towards the back after being on for about 20 min I can only guess this is with all djm mixers

I do own the djm 900 nexus and I use it for 4-6hrs at a time with no problems what so ever. When I first purchased the djm 900 it was defective and this was around late april early may. I would hear a suttle popping noice but it was very very suttle. After a week got another one which is the one I currently have so as of Early May till now no problems what so ever. So what I am getting at is there is a chance of still getting a defective djm 900 as with any other electronics, so just return the one you have for another new one. Hopefully it is not past your month return policy. Also as i stated earlier I run this mixer 4-6hrs at a time and it gets warm at normal tempature from the touch of it as any mixer would but nothing to the extent that would be abnormally warm or hot. Hope this helps.

Thanks DJ Nvasion & Morgo for all your support. I did check to see if it was a early model which was not fixed and apparently all models which were fixed has a white dot on the box and on the DJM 900 my mixer has a white dot on the mixer but no white dot on the box.

Last night the djm900 shut down in middle of chuckies set and would not come back on when I pulled it and switched mixers it was so hot that it almost burned your fingers. This is the only dj that can get this mixer to shut down in his set its the 3rd time this has happened. I need a fix to this as the 900 is our main mixer.

Brandon, I always thought the djm 900 mixer was running on the hot side for me. But after poking around it's normal. Could it be the channel meters are running hot (in the red) I have not confirmed this but I suspected when the metters run hot it contributes to the mixer running hoter than normal?

No i run the meters just tickleing the red for my dj's anymore than that i can here the output distortion that the 900 gives out when the meters start hitting the second red on mixer. Chuckie was all over the 900 like no other dj we have run through here. he is all over the effects and the color making the dsp work extremely hard. this over heating only happens to the 900 when chuckie plays its happened 3 times now.

The mixer can not be turned on for two days.
