DJM 350 vs 700 parameter control

I recently had to exchange my 350 with a 700, The 350 was my first mixer and I got used to it, now I have to use the 700

I'm having problems adapting to the 700 mainly because of the effect, the 700 has 2 parameter control, im having problem controlling the time parameter especially when using the filter and flanger effect (because its the main effect that I use)

can anyone tell me how to set up the time parameter so the filter and flanger effect wouldn't loop?

I don't own a 700, but from what I understand, the  Filter and Flanger are beat effects, so they will always 'loop', or oscillate, depending on what Beat parameter is set, or what the Time parameter has been turned to.

The Filter frequency knob can be used to precisely control the separate filter outside of the beat effects.

Correct.  In addition, when using the filter knob while a beat-effect is engaged, you will find that the beat effect selected will only sound within the EQ range selected by the filter knob; turning it counter-clockwise will have your flange effects only effecting the lower frequencies whereas going clockwise would effect the higher frequencies.

does the same goes for the 400? if so, which other djm series would allow me to have the filter effect working the same way as the 350?

@Ben S > The DJM-350 also does the "loop" beat effect.

The following DJM Mixers have the "Loop" in the Beat Effects:

DJM-350

DJM-400

DJM-700

DJM-800

DJM-900

DJM-2000

Although all the beat effects have the "loop" feature, there are some mixers that have additional effects such as "Sound FX" or "Sound Color FX". These effects allow you to control the effect parameter without the "Loop" on the effect.

The following DJM Mixers have effects that do not "Loop":

DJM-250

DJM-800

DJM-900

DJM-2000

The DJM-250 has only 1 effect and is a "Filter".

The DJM-800 has 4 effects that do not "Loop", but one is a "Harmonic" effect that changes the Key of the track. (I never used it but it's funky)

The DJM-900 has 6 effects that do not "Loop", these are my favourite at the moment.

The DJM-2000 has at least 6 effects that do not "Loop" and possibly more but I haven't played around with one enough.

Keep in mind, the "Loop" is only applied to "Beat Effects", the "Time" knob only controls the length of the "Loop" (similar to using the "< BEAT >" buttons, and the "Level/Depth" controls the "Wet/Dry" of the effect added.

The DJM400 only has beat-effects, the DJM250 would be the closest with 2 manual filter knobs (1 per channel).

@Ben S > I think you should still consider the DJM-800. It's still supported and on the product line, plus it doesn't cost as much as the DJM-900.

Yes I have been considering the 800 but it has been discontinued, which makes finding a brand new one hard, and finding it where I'm from is almost impossible. we don't get many retailers and the official local pioneer distributor doesn't even know what they're selling, they're also selling at an insanely high price here in Indonesia, I'd rather save up for a brand new 900 from Singapore

@Ben S > The DJM-800 hasn't been discontinued, but I understand if you would like to save up for theDJM-900.

I love the DJM-800, but the DJM-900 is definitely worth the extra money in my opinion!!! :D

Best of luck and I hope it all goes well! :)
