DJM 2000 Sudden Thin Sound Output.

Was having a house party with all the toys cdj 2000s and DJM 2000, and had weird moment.  The warm sound suddenly disappeared and was left with a thin kind of sound.  It is not that noticeable that we could be sure it was there at first, and we carried on but with some muttering.  I have the DJM 2000 -> XLR into Mackie 450s and the Mackie sub all active.

So day after party got some friends round again and we did some testing and whipped out my old Audio Kontrol sound card and did a some tests eg running same song out left from DJM into speakers in left and out right from Audio Kontrol to in right speakers and the difference is really there.  I don't know how to describe it... The sound get painful rather then loud from the DJM and has a very thin feeling, like some middle and deep frequencies are missing.  It sounds like a damaged speaker, but I know from Audio Kontrol Speakers are tip top and blasting warm sounds

Maybe could be a problem with overheating mixer and something got fried?  It is in a flight case and has got hot over the years.

I have DJ gear insurance so I not stressing here, but I wonder if there might be some more information I can give when I claim for repair.  Also will the repairer be able to test frequency out range from the mixer.

Also anyone every heard of anything like this, it feels counter intuitive in the days of circuit board and digital that can just loose a bit of sound warmth suddenly rather then just loose sound all together??

Cheers

@James > Your best bet will be to contact tech support from the links at the right and possibly have it serviced.  I can't think of anything outside of cabling, an effect or EQ that would cause that problem but presumably you've already checked all that.

Hey Pulse, thanks, will contact tech support on Monday.

I cant think of anything else either but, I checked everything through multiple channels, and multiple different inputs, CDJs and laptops.  Whatever goes through the DJM 2000 has a problem with the sound.

I have not checked the cables... I don't have a second set.... but what are the chances, that both cables somehow bust together?

Will report back with more info when I get it.... I keen myself to know what happened...  I thought of another way to describe what the sound is like. Its like a 96 bit rate song playing on a loud sound system :)
