No; the gate effect is designed to cut the volume when the audio levels reach a certain peak.

SeguirDJM 2000 Gate effect issue (related to broken fw?)
Is the Gate effect located at the top of the mixer with the beat effect broken as well as a result of the broken firmware? I have also tried to play around with it and can not figure it out. It never sounds like anything good, just a weird cut.
Thx

So how do you set those peaks? Sorry I'm not sure I understand. Can you use it and make it sound nice? or is it like the Harmonic color effect that we used to have on the DJM800...sort of there but not really used?
Not sure if it's problem with my mixer or just the effect itself is not that useful... I've tried every setting
No djm 2000 owners can comment??
The gating levels are predefined and can't be adjusted, but the more you turn the knob, the greater the gating effect. It's a great way to chop the beat for a breakdown sound and I use it often.
OK I'll play with it a bit more I guess...It's just that I have tried all the beat effects with just a beat (looped) just so I hear the effects better and learn how they behave so I can use them as they are suppose to be used and the Gate just sounds strange.
