[SOLVED] DJM-2000 v3.18 vs DJM-2000 NEXUS v3.18 => differences

i think the faders on the nexus are the same as the djm-900

The Nexus, I believe, also has improved audio quality (ie. better internal components).  Other than that, I believe the firmware features are the same.

I always say this though - I wouldn't be surprised if the Nexus receives firmware updates in the future that the old DJM-2000 does not.  This is all down to 1) Pioneer  2) the power of the hardware inside the mixers.

Well guys its very obvious what the difference is.... One says NEXUS and one Don't... That makes the NEXUS better... LOL im sure they are the same. Besides the nexus logo and the silver knob... they are the same. It was just a way to get more sales out of the DJM 2000 before the come out with another mixer that we curse them about. LOL

That's indeed what I tend to think about that DJM-2000 Nexus. However, now that you posted a comment, no Pioneer representatives will ever answer to that thread because if what you said is true, they would never come and support your arguments haha.

Yeah myself and a few others where posting this when the 2000 nexus first came out. I just hope since it was a way to make mk1 owners happy and also make some money to attract 2000 nexus owners that pio is working on another official upgraded mixer to release with in this or next year instead of waiting 3-4 more years.

In my opinion, Pioneer is kind of the "Apple" of the DJing industry... don't you think?

Yeah which I understand that Pio and companies such as Apple need to make a profit margin but these companies need to understand that after awhile many consumers will gravitate towards companies that are trying to make there mark so to speak, case in point Samsung products vs iphone products. In 5 years time I believe Apple will not be concidered the go to products for mobile devices it will be Samsung and Google. For Pioneer if they keep this type of format in 5 years time companies such as a&h and denon will shorten the gap significantly. I hope Pioneer will hit it out of the park with the next dj mixers and cdjs if not then denon and a&h will equal Pioneer in terms of momentum in my opinion of course.

I hate Microsoft for waiting 8 or 9 years to release a new XBOX because in those 8 or 9 years tecnology has really passed it by. Sure a upgrade version has been released to help push it down the road but still. On the other hand I have gadgets like phones made by the same company being released once a year. In the case of DJ/Pioneer I really would like to sit on my NEW Mixer/CDJ's a couple of years before the latest and greatest is released again and not feel like, damn. If I would have waitied... However in todays world if you sit still for to long someone will pass you by. It's not like Sony and Microsoft have other companies throwing out new consoles that are better so they can sit on them forever without a care. Pioneer probably would be good with every other year. Releasing every year gets me wondering if I should buy now or sit on what I have for the following years model. (If that's what Pioneer plans on doing...)

Last thing I want to see is a new model come out, have issues, take a few months to fix and get working correctly (Cough cough) and 6 to 8 months later a new Mixer and CDJ is released that I should have waited for in the first place. 2 to 3 years is fine by me.

Exactly how it should be just like the djm 800 had a good 5 year life the 900 nexus because it isn't a big leap in terms of its functionality should just have a 3 year max life. if I where Pioneer get a new mixer after 3 years atleast by 2014. The 2000 nexus mk2 since it really isn't a new mixer just a updated version at least in my eyes I hope in the next year or two Pioneer will come out with a official successor to the djm 2000 mixer. But in general they can have a mixer last 4-5 years if they where to go all out which is what they need to do with the next batch of mixers and cdjs if not other companies should take the opportunity to shorten the margin by coming with more reliable and club standard products that will surpass the capabilities and functionality that would become what the djm 800 mixer did in 2006 the standard that other companies tried to aim for.

I don't think any Pioneer representative will respond to your message. I think everybody knows the DJM-2000 with the updated firmware and the DJM-2000 Nexus are the same thing, but just with a slightly different design. (chrome knobs, etc.)

The firmwares are almost identical, what makes the units themselves different is the audio quality. From the FAQs:

This unit carries over the audio design of high-end model DJM-2000 and achieves even higher quality playback sound. The audio circuitry’s clock uses a low jitter crystal oscillator and the audio power source’s noise is reduced to enable reproduction of sound that is more faithful to the original. Sound quality is further improved through the use of high sound quality parts for the booth monitor output and send/return circuits.

The only thing I haven't confirmed is if the soundcard is different from the original.

Wouldn't it be easier to discontinue the 2000? Now that would probably help sell more nexuses. Just my thought. If the goal is to sell more Nexuses but keep the 2000 around, being the same mixer for the most part, why is the 2000 not discontinued?

Indeed you are right - the 2000 production probably will be cut back (at a guess) in favour of the 2000 Nexus. I believe it was a very fair move to keep the price for the 2000 Nexus the same.

Yup, glad it stayed the same price. I understand keeping the 2000 at the same price, no need to cut the price on that a few hundred as it would take sales away from the Nexus so it's a wonder why Pioneer just didn't stop production all together of the 2000 as the final goal is clear..

Okay, I have confirmed that the DJM-2000 has been discontinued with the DJM-2000nexus taking its place at the same price.  The quality of the audio systems have been improved however the soundcard remains the same (8/0, 6/2 or 6/0 configurations).
