[SOLVED] Help Needed. Recording Volume

I'm still struggling to get a decent recording level. I'm using the DJM 900's digital output which is going into the digital input on my audio interface. The program I am using to record is ''Sony Sound Forge Audio Studio''. I have adjusted the mixers club set-up menu and changed the digital output volume to the loudest setting and ensured that the sample rates both match in club set-up and Sound Forge. In addition, I have turned down my Yamaha monitors from halfway to allow to turn up the master more so that is peaking closer to 0dB. I have also went into the club-setup menu and changed the overall master level from 0dB to -3db.

After doing all of the above I am still only getting around -10dB recording volume which is far to low. What am I doing wrong ? I need the recording closer to 0dB. Maybe I should use the rec out instead and use an RCA cable.

jay D im not using it at the moment but i did try out sound forge pro earlier this year & didnt have any rec level problems.but i didnt use digital outputs then to interface.i plugged directly usb on mixer to usb on pc works much better easier to get a decent level.i have tried it your way while using audacity & it was ethier too loud & clipping or not loud enough by adjusting club settings up & down in mixer.personally id switch to a digital usb/out on mixer to usb in pc & ditch the interface.

You don't risk clipping, when using the digital out/in, and when the recording is done, you just use Sound Forge's tool to adjust the volume to what you want.it to be.
