I Need help regarding which Mixer i should get

I have a DJM-600, two Turntables and a M-Audio Fast Track Ultra, i wanted to upgrade to the digital Age.

I will get the two CDJ 2000 Nexus and i am not sure if i should get the DJM 900 Nexus or the DJM 2000 Nexus for my Tasks.

i saw in the Manual, that the soundcard of the DJM900NXS has 4 Inputs and 4 Outputs, the DJM2000NXS only has 4/0 or 3/1. (1 Input is not enough, Need atleast 2 for the CDJ's)

here is what i want to do

i want to hook up the CDJ's to my Mixer and be able to route them to Ableton and back to the same Channel on the Mixer

on the DJM 2000 NXS

  • is the only way to do this to route the Signal of both CDJ's through the M Audio Soundcard (Ableton)  first and then to the Mixer? would this not add a bit of delay?

on the DJM 9000 NXS

  • it looks like it would be routable within the Mixer. Basicly From Fader 1 to Ableton (in-out) and back to Fader 1?

Is that correct? or is there another way to route this stuff that i dont know / dont see?

Also i read that the CDJ 2000 NXS has also a soundcard build in, can i maybe achieve this without the mixer? (so it wouldnt matter which one i'll get)  or do i lose Features or something then?

Looking Forward to your advice, thanks in advance

You can connect your CDJS via HID mode directly via USB to a computer and nothing else. You can do the same with mixer (directly via USB), no M Audio Soundcard needed) ;)

But this HID mode would be more suited for a serato etc user? i dont use that, only Ableton.

to make it simpler, what i wanted to know was:

  • Can you route Channel 1 and Channel 2 (from the DJM 900 NXS or DJM 2000 NXS) to BUS1 and BUS2 in Ableton (effect it) - and back to Channel 1 and Channel 2 on the DJM 900 NXS or DJM 2000 NXS Mixer? maybe even have the ability to choose between Post and Pre Fader when the Signal Comes back?

can this achieved with both Mixers? The 2000 NXS Soundcard Looks more limited, just wanted to have a confirmation about that, maybe i overlooked something else..

Thanks in advance

Im almost sure that they got the same soundcard. Quite sure that they are deisgned to Ableton to (like in official Pioneer CDJ 2000 training video they mentioned). For HID config please see some youtube videos (I've never used hid with ableton)

this is from the Manual.

DJM 2000 Nexus:

  • ASIO 4 Outputs 0 Inputs 16 bits

  • ASIO 3 Outputs 1 Inputs 16 bits

  • ASIO 3 Outputs 0 Inputs 32 bits

DJM 900 NEXUS:

4 Inputs and 4 Outputs

So it Looks like i have to go with the 900 Nexus then?
