i am on the shame boat too. i own an 92 and i will buy for sure the rmx 1000.from my experience i dont see any reason that you can t use it with any other mixer that have send-return , i own an efx 500 and it works nice. the only negative that i can see , is that on the xone 92 is more difficult to set the levels correctly ,for have a good mix, as the send-return on pioneer mixers is fixed(if i am correct), and i guess works perfect with fx units .by the way i am really interested on an pioneer expert opinion on this subject too.

Seguir[SOLVED] Is the RMX-1000 Friendly when used with other mixers? Are there any disadvantages?
I just bought a brand new Xone:92 and I love it to death. I have wanted to add an EFX unit and after looking at this one- my first question was this.
I wondered if I would need to have a Pioneer mixer to utilize it at its utmost. Or in other words - are there any disadvantages to using it with any mixer other than say a "Pioneer Nexus 900"?

The RMX-1000 will work with any mixer, regardless of whether or not it has a Send/Return or AUX loop. You can always connect the RMX between a CDJ (or other line device) and the mixer or post-master output from the mixer (although you lose the ability to cue-preview the effects).
@Pulse, if I put the RMX in between a cdj and the mixer I need 2 RMX since I own 2 cdjs.
I also own an xone92, and I have a KP3 and its pain in the neck for me to fix the levels.
Mostly I prefer to use my KP3 with other devices such as Kaossilator or microphone since KP3 is a sampler too.
I dont have an EFX500 or EFX1000 so I don't know.
Apart from that I wanna mention that Xone92 doesnt have RCA for send/return but jacks so you have to fix cables as well.
If someone can help it would be really interesting since RMX1000 seems to be great!
@DT > As the Kaossilator is an "output only" device, you're sending that to a channel direct, but I would chain the KP3 and the RMX together via the AUX loop. You don't need to do anything to cables as the Xone92 uses 1/4" TS for the AUX send / return.
@Pulse, maybe I am not doing something right. Xone92 has 1/4 TS Jack for the aux send/return but KP3 has RCA. Is not a common cable at store and if I want a good one it has to be fixed. This is how I did it otherwise I had to order it from the net. It works but maybe cause of the mixer functionality is not so easy to set the level. As @stranger said above If I connect it to a digital mixer (which I have done in past) that had RCA for send/return it was easy for me. Now with Xone I can't do it same way. Maybe I am not doing something right. If you know please light my way.
Also, for me here, I know the cable simple as "jack cable". The way you named it above ""1/4 TS"" I didn't know, however it seems the same. I am gonna search it. If you know it would be really interesting to give help. My English vocabulary is not as rich in these kind of conversations as I would like to be. Thanks!!
@treez.friend, the signal levels have nothing to do if you connect with RCA or 1/4 TS. for me is exactly the same. why dont use any kind of adaptors, if you dont want to buy new cable RCA to 1/4? not a big difference on signal loss.
Hi!
For you guys who have had problems with the levels, could you please elaborate on what exactly happens with the levels on your Xone? I have a Xone 4D and I am wondering wether to invest in a RMX 1000 or not. I do not want to use it after the master, only with send and return. Now if I am going to struggle with levels etc it is a dealbreaker for me. So could you explain exactly what your experiences are with previous EFX and possibly the RMX if you have tried it?
Thanks!
Hi lulz. me personal i dont have problem set the levels on my efx-500 and xone 92 conected as send return. Is not a reason for shure to stop you buy RMX 1000 , i will buy it soon too. Just you need a basic knowledge how send/return works on classic mixers. Not a big deal! Iif you want any help on connections settings etc , me and other kind users in here am shure it will help.
Hi thanks for the reply! :)
Could you explain what you mean by "on the xone 92 is more difficult to set the levels correctly". What happens exactly? Thanks
On xone 92 you must manually set the amount of the signal that go in rmx 1000 input . is a knob in the top of every chanel , that is called AUX. on Pioneer mixers the amount of signal that will go in RMX is fixed.
Thanks again!
I know how it works and I have read about it.
Sorry for maybe being a little unclear but I was just wondering if the manual setting of the levels caused any problems with the sound or anything else. But I guess not?
No , no problem at all. by the way, RMX 1000 have a great signal level meter on it . keep it a bit under zero db ( green area) and you will be fine.
Ej guys,
Also own a 92 and rmx now but send and return doesnt work wel.
X-pad works well, but fx source, scene fx as well release fx react on the x-pad but not on the music.
So i can do a break ,echo or isolater on the clap or snare but not on the actual music.
I connected it on the cdj2000 and it works perfect, but as said before ihave 2 cdj's.....so need indeed 2 rmx's....
Somebody already found out how to connect it well?
Hey, I was looking to purchase the rmx-1000 to add to my DJ setup. I use serato itch and have both the ns6 and the twitch. My question is would the rmx-1000 be able to work along with either of theses controllers.
Hi Together,
i own a Xone42. If have a strange noise if i use it with send/return. If i turn the dry/wet knob to dry, the noise is gone. And if i use the RMX between TT and Xone its and and if i use it after the mixer (no send/return) its fine, too.
I allready updated it to the newest firmware. I will give my RMX 1000 back to store until the problem ist solved. Afaik A&H have some problems with the AMAZING RMX1000.
I´m looking in the Xone Forums, too. But i did not find a solution yet.
Markus
Hey guys,
has anything happend within the last year ?
Does the XONE 92 work now smooth with the RMX 1000 ??
Thanks
ron
The RMX-1000 works better with my Denon DN-X1700 then my Pioneer DJM 2000 Nexus or the DJM 900 Nexus.. Why? Because I can select channels on my 1700.. I can't on the 2000.. Only master and A/B channel. and on the 900 there is no post fader effect on channel only master.. so IMO the RMX 1000 works better with other mixers then it does with Pioneer mixers LOL
so - any spezific experiences with the xone 92 + rmx 1000 in 2014 ?
Xone92 + RMX is not that great unless you have the RMX hooked up post-master (output of the Xone into the RMX then RMX to the mainsystem/PA).
I still use my EFX-1000 with my Xone92- EFX is a higher caliber of a processor than the RMX (fact) and if you leave the FX on, with the "mix" set to "effect" not to include the original signal, then u can use the output of the EFX1000 as an AUX return to channels 1 or 2 on your Xone92. That's been my set-up for nearly 9 years (well it was the EFX500 at first then eventually got the EFX1000).
So the RMX is straight in/instant gratification fun- the EFX is more intuitive control and processing. Ask anyone from Pioneer- the EFX1000 is the top tier FX, RMX1000 comes in 2nd
This is the best way to use the EFX with the Xone92- if u can find one second hand I say get it-
Use the AUX send (1 or 2 whatever you feel comfy with) from the Xone to send the signal out and into the EFX input
make sure the the FX is always on LOCK & the Mix is set to effect only- this way you wont have the same source mixing (and phasing) back into the mixer
Output of the EFX1000 goes into either channel 1 or 2 (Aux return) then you can EQ, cue, and if u get creative send the signal back to the EFX for a little natural feedback/delay (a lot of fun as long as you don't cross the limit)
Advantages of this are you can pre-listen to what the EFX is doing by cueing it up in advance- I usually leave my aux return up during my mixes and just use the AUX send up and down during a track to get a little "jiggle" out of it- John Digweed has also been using the same set-up for nearly 10 years.
Hope that helps explain why the EFX1000 is better with the Xone92 than the RMX ;)
