iTunes/Bridge issue

I recently got RecordBox but am having trouble having it update as I add new music to my iTunes library.

For some reason the "Bridge" option can't recognize/"find" my iTunes library even though the preferences are properly set to the right music folder with in my computer (look at screen shots for example:  http://imgur.com/a/AO9Aa)

As you can see from the pictures, when i click Bridge, there is nothing after that...

The reason I want to fix this is so that I don't have to individually import every new song I download and just have Rekordbox automatically update the new tracks added to my iTunes...

Please help!

Jeremy Kim

@Jeremy > I'm very sorry about the delay. The engineers have contacted me and asked could you send me the iTunes XML files which is specified in rekordbox Preferences (see the link attached).

ive added some attachements from my itunes/rb preferences - i personally think adding the music files into itunes works best. because it removes the issue of missing files in itunes/rekrodbox - any time you move them around in explorer(windows) or finder (osx), itunes looses track of them - which leads to playlist and all sorts getting dislocated.

the library path shown in my attachment should be replicated in rekordbox (sorry if this is teaching you to suck eggs).

hope this helps!

@Jeremy > The engineers have investigated and failed to reproduce the same errors. Following up from that, could you please let them know the following by posting in this thread:

1) location of itunes xml

2) the exact OS of computer

3) any other applications you may be running (Serato / Traktor) etc.

1.) Users > Jkim > Music > iTunes > iTunes Library.xml (attached a screenshot)

2.)  Mac OS X 10.7.5

3.) Nope, just rekordbox

@Matt: Yeah, that is what I'm trying to do. I want it so that every time I add new music to my iTunes Library, it automatically syncs to Rekordbox. The problem is, for some reason RB Bridge isn't working. Or atleast when I click on "Bridge", iTunes does not come up

Your itunes might be corrupted.  maybe the xml file.

I will look into the apple website on how to fix itunes .xml file.

try moving your itunes music folder outside of the itunes folder.

Also open up your itunes music library.xml in text edit and make sure the first couple line is somewhat similar to mine.

major version is 1

minior is 1

my application is 10.7

features is 5

music folder is file://localhost/user/myusername/music/itunes/itunes%20media/

tell me if your music folder is similar to mine or simply take a snapshot of it.

Hey guys! Today, I randomly started up RekordBox just to organize the tracks that were already loaded into there. I went to the Bridge button and normally, nothing shows up ...BUT TODAY, iTUNES finally showed up!!!

My question is, how do I get my new tracks in iTunes to move over to RekordBox?

Do I just click and drag? or when I click Bridge, should RekordBox automatically start importing the new tracks over?

I have the same issue.

After moving my library's from SSD C to storage drive D.

File location addresses are correct in Rekordbox preferences.

@J K if itunes is showing up in bridge just highlight and right click import tunes to rekordbox...

@Jeremy, simply right click each playlist you want in rekordbox... and select 'import playlist' - while in bridge!

then when in rekordbox 'playlist' tab right click the top of the tree.. and select 'sort items'

this will then be in the same order as shown in itunes... if left unsorted the playlists will be in order of import.

Okay,

So I organized all the tracks in iTunes, then I went to the Bridge, found the playlist and clicked "Import" but when I imported the playlist into RekordBox, all the organizations that I had done in iTunes did not transfer over to RekordBox.

I attached screen shots to show you guys.

As you can see in the iTunes screen shot, all the songs are properly organized but in Rekordbox, none of the changes carried over...

thanks matt, appreciate the help but I don't know if you saw the screen shots.

In iTunes, I had organized every track by artist, title and genre, etc etc. When I tried importing the formatted playlist from iTunes to RekordBox, none of the changes, that I had made in iTunes, carried over =/

PS its awesome that you can help me out while killing it in the club hahaha

yeah i checked the screenshots and you have the playlists in orser of track (itunes). therefore you can pick and place music in any order - i do it the same as you! remember you must close itunes before you bridge tracks over or the xml somehow doesnt get updated for rb to see. if you did close itunes b4 the import you can manually hange position of your traks with the mouse. i hear you double work, but u must remember you can mess up the organisation by clicking a title "date order" "artist" etc as said above!

So I did everything you wrote but it still doesn't seem to be working out for me....I took screen shots of each individual step just to make sure...

Screen shot 1: If you look at the play list, each song has the proper title, artist, and I included the genre to each one.

Screen Shot 2: I have completely closed iTunes and only have RekordBox running. Note that I am in Bridge in Rekordbox and the playlist mimics the playlist from iTunes perfectly.

Screen Shot 3: After right clicking and importing the playlist from Bridge. Notice that none of the changes carried over...

I can't seem to figure out what the issue is...

Yeah, I did that but still nothing. (screen shot attached)

Appreciate all the help though.

Can anyone from Pioneer explain what might be wrong?

@Jeremy > We're still currently investigating. I'm querying a few things with the engineers about your situation at the moment. In relation to the XML file, here's what they said:

"If he changes the xml files location(for exemple, on Desktop), his rekordbox can show it?" Can you confirm?

For the tracks whose names differ in rekordbox to what is in iTunes, can you select Get Info From iTunes on those tracks and see if that resolves your problem?

I am at an absolute loss with rekordbox. I have lost a gig because of it now.

Last night i analised all tracks in the folders i wanted to bridge. That worked fine on one USB (it took me 6 hours to get it to work though) Then today i wanted to bridge exact same folders into another USB stick. Two folders worked then the other 4 didn't. I got the "Missing file manager....the file could not be found"

Yet when i "play" it on my MacBook Pro in the rekordbox prgrame it plays. Yet when i try and play it from my USB it's not there.

I am at my witts end and angry as this was my first time using rekordbox (i have used traktor before but got sick of carryig a laptop around)

I have been through this thread, looked at all the pictures and tried to change things.....i can't

I am sure there is an easy fix (i did uninstall rekordbox and re insall as well as re format my USB's) but to say i'm pissed off is an undertstment esp with having to cancel a gig tonight.

Any help is apreciated...i am not that good with computers but have always got there in the end. Not with rekordbox though. Basically i have been in front of this laptop 16 hours now trying to get the tunes on the USB and have to admit defet

BTW i am prepared to totally clear out my laptop of all music, and clear out itunes and start again., even uninstall Itunes and re install.....if that is the easy way for a doughnut like me to get this Rekordbox to work) Obviously i have all my tunes backed up on two externals.

If I got this right the Rekordbox Bridge sometimes works and sometimes not. Tried running Disc Utility? Asking because I've had issues before with the XML-file, inside the iTunes folder, getting really weird read/write rights. Moved the file back to original place and it worked fine & ran Disc Utility.
