I think its a limitation in the remotebox app.

SeguirBug? Selected categories not visible in Remotebox app
I cannot get the selected categories to show up in Remotebox.
I've just bought the XDJ-R1 and have installed Rekordbox 2.0.7 on my Mac and Remotebox on my iPad. When exporting tracks to a USB drive and plugging it into XDJ-R1, it shows up in Remotebox and I can see all the tracks that I've exported, but for some reason the categories in the left column only list: Artist, album, track, bpm, playlist and folder - not any of the categories I selected when creating the library in Rekordbox.
No matter how I manipulate and modify the categories or sorting from Rekordbox, it doesn't change what I see when writing the library to the USB and viewing it via Remotebox.
I've attached screenshots of both how my USB drive looks in Rekordbox (rekordbox.png) and how my Remotebox app looks when viewing this USB drive (remotebox.png).
Is this a known bug or am I doing something wrong?

i have the same issue, certainly seams like a bug. Is there a fix for it yet?
seriously need this also.. one of the main reasons I purchased this device .. need to be able to see KEY and such .. doesnt work on the cdj display either .. hadnt tried remotebox...
@Brian > From the engineers:
Because of the limitation of the hardware, only the limited categories can be displayed on the remotebox screen.
We are sorry for the inconvenience, but it cannot be fixed by the firmware update.
Hello, come on Gavin, is it serious ?!! I just bought the XDJ-R1, and I cannot find the "Color", and "Genre", this is crazy ! I spent months and months to build my library according to this. This is working on the CDJ-2000 when I go to the club, and on my XDJ Aero, that I just sold to buy this one !
How can this be possible to have it on the Aero and not on the R1 ?
So please make the Rekordbox mobile compatible with R1, because Rekordbox mobile got it !
I am not at all satisfied with this product. Both my hardware and my software is not working correctly! Over the next days I will list all the faults I come across, and it is quite a lot.
One thing I really was upset about this Saturday when I was out DJ'ing, was the fact that I could NOT access my library on my USB, when I plugged it into another Pioneer player, than my XDJ-R1. So, I missed out playing a lot of tracks, because I couldn't access the folder. That is not cool at all. According to your presentation video, folders can be accessed on all your players with an USB port - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CYpgXJZVCIU&feature=c4-overview-vl&list=PLk1VCXHnvPLBqxa5JpLhkC1t9lfOKx1kM
That is not the case. I know I'm supposed to export it exclusively to the XDJ-R1, or to other devices. But I forget things like that! Please, fix that so it works on all players, no matter what.
Dear Pioneer, I really fancy your products. I sold my beloved CDJ-1000 MKIII's and DJM-800, in order to reduce my growing CD collection, and put all my music into USB's and step my whole game up a bit with creativity. This has just made it all worse!
If any other out there encounters problems with the XDJ-R1, please write to me here, or send a mail to brian@affect-media.com. Then I will sum it all up, and send to Pioneer.
@Gavin, please could you align yourselves with Pioneer representatives ? This is what we get as an answer on the topic from a youtube video:
Plug in your device, and then click on the Devices Tab, select your device from the list and a new pane appears n the right. In here, select the Categories Tab and then move Genre over to the 'Active' side. Eject the device and it will update the settings.

So what is the truth ? A fix in the future firmware update ?
Hey Everyone
I just got a new XDJ-R1 and although in general I'm very happy with the product, I was very surpised indeed by this limitation of Remotebox.
My main reason for upgrading was due to my CD collection getting a little out of control. I write the BPM and Key of every track on the CD cover and thought that moving to a USB based interface would help me sort on these two categories, so I don't have to palm my way through countless pages of CDs to find compatable tracks. It turns out that this upgrade has actually made it more difficult for me in this respect.
The information I need is present on the USB and Remotebox can access it (when you press 'INFO' it is displayed), so there must be a way of displaying it in the main USB Browse view. The previous comment from Gavin explains that there is a hardware limitation, which I struggle to understand since the information is available. Surely this can be resolved through the App's design. I used to own a 32k BBC Micro that could sort three columns of data, so I don't see how an ipad couldn't manage it.
If there is a genuine hardware limitation that prevents the app interogating the USB files for this information, then a solution would be to allow the app to sync with Rekordbox to retrieve the metadata of all USB tracks, then it would be a simple matter of changing the view to accomodate the new categories.
I sincerely hope that an update of the app can fix this, as it's very frustrating that a high quality product like this should overlook such rudimentary functionality.
In the meantime, my workaround is to create playlists for each of the keys and I now need to start work on the tedius process of renaming all my tracks to include the BPM in the track title. Not ideal, but workable. Although I've been singing the praises of this device, I've been recommending to my more experienced DJ friends to go down the Traktor and laptop route from a library management point of view.
Does anyone know of any thrid party apps that manage this aspect of the XDJ-R1 better?
I hope something can be done about this, because for all other purposes the device is amazing.
hello Im some disapointed about the XDJR1.
it supouse that some DJS Use personal Commens in oun tracks, some kid of things like, energy or personal coments that i can see in CDJ2000 and is very usefull but in the XDJR1 is no way to get this info in my dysplay, or remotebox, it could be great to take access to this informtation.
is possible to upload the remotebox or XDJR1 to leave that the equipmet do this.
another thisngs that is important is check the played state in my track list, to avoid repeat traks in long sets.
