Also, using the jog wheels on vinyl mode would trigger the problem.

Seguir[CLOSED] Pioneer DDJ Ergo hardware controls become unresponsive
Hello Pioneer DJ Team,
My Pioneer DDJ Ergo's hardware controls does respond with the Virtual DJ LE, Taktor 2 or Serato DJ Intro software after playing for 2-3 hours under normal seamless music mixes. If I use the pitch controls extremely, the problem would be more likely to occur immediately. Only the master volume responds. I have this problem since I got it more than a month ago.
I am using a Sony Vaio "VGN-CS23G", Windows Vista Home Premium Edition 32-bit OS, Intel Pentium Dual-Core T4200, 2.00 GHz processor, upgraded 4GB RAM, 138 GB free HD.
I tried to reformat my laptop and reinstall the OS but it is still the same.
Using the controls on the software itself is OK. Is this some kind of a sound card problem?
Thanks to respond soon.

Do you have your USB cable connected directly to your computer or does it pass through a hub by any chance?
Does the ERGO stay lit and illuminated even after the controls do not respond after the 2-3 hours?
Perhaps try a different USB port on your computer and see if you see any difference.
USB cable is directly connected. No USB hub used.
ERGO stays lit and illuminated even with unresponsive controls.
Tried all 3 different USB ports with no difference.
2-3 hours is my longest session. Shortest was just few minutes especially when using the tempo or jog wheels more often then the CPU meter stays on RED zone resulting to unresponsive controls on the ERGO.
When I want to restart the system, Virtual DJ application can not be closed properly. Even on the "Task Manager". It won't close when you click "end process". It stays running program.
@Rex > Are you switching software during use? If so, you must switch off the DDJ-ERGO between software applications. Does the same thing occur with each software after 2-3hrs of use? I had used the ERGO with Traktor2 for over 2 hours and found no issues.
@Pulse, Yes I am switching the ERGO off and on again everytime I change DJ softwares.
It must have been some issue within Vista's simultaneous running programs. I am not sure which process or service is in conflict with the software. I was thinking of stopping some before I start using the ERGO but Windows might be unstable if done wrongly. I need to get the CPU meter as low as possible.
Appreciate any help on this.
Just to double check on my last question -- it's only one application you're running for 2-3hrs that causes the non-response? What are the versions of the software you're running?
@Pulse: I am using them one at a time and no other applications on the "Task Managerr" running while using the ERGO but the "Physical Memory Usage" reaches around 900MB to 1.13GB when the problem starts.
I am using these softwares:
Virtual DJ LE - version 7.0.5b LE
Traktor Scratch Pro - version 2.0.1 (R10169)
Serato DJ Intro - version 1.0.4 (1044)
Hello again Pioneer DJ team,
It has been more than a week now since my last reply. Any good suggestion to solve this?
I am also experiencing this problem with my ERGO.
This has become very annoying and would really like any info on how this can be stopped =/
@Rex > Sorry, I've filed a support ticket with the engineers to see what they say.
@Aaron > Can you please post a bit of information about your system and the software versions you're using?
@Pulse, I have also read the same complain from other software foum website using ERGO with Vista OS.
Sony Vaio "VGN-CS23G" laptop meets the ERGO's minimum system requirement but I don't understand why I am having this problem. The waveform movement is not running smoothly as you play music on 1 or both decks with any DJ software.
As what @Aaron said, it is really annoying and frustrating especially when you already got the mood of the music mixes then suddenly you could'nt get control of it.
@ Pulse i am using Acer Aspire L5100 with AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X" Dual-Core Processor 5200+ 2.70GHz, 3 GB RAM... 32 Bit OS on Windows Vista Home Premium.
The software im using is Traktor Pro 2.1.2 and VDJ LE 7.0.5b.
As Rex has said it is a sporadic problem, i used Traktor yesterday for about an hour then left it for 30 mins or so played a track and flick the volume control was enough to cause the whole thing to crash.
Can you guys tell us if you have any other USB devices connected? What you have in terms of software running in the background? Antivirus?
If possible, please provide a screenshot of your task manager so the engineers can see just what's causing the problem.
I have a iPod cable connected into another USB but the iPod isn't connected.
AVG Internet Security 2011 is running in my background.
You want a screenshot of the processes tab?
@Aaron > Can you disable the various components of the AVG-IS (antivirus, anti-malware, firewall -- if installed) and see if you run into the same problems? Yes, a screenshot of the processes tab please!
@Aaron & @Rex > Our engineers dug up a couple of things...

Apparently it's an issue with Windows Vista, not your computer or other software. See the 2nd link above for details.
@Pulse> Just as I always thought the problem is from Vista OS itself.
I tried to downgrade to XP and solved the unresponsive hardware controls but the sound cuts out from time to time like every 15-20 seconds using VDJ and Serato DJ Intro. I did not dare upgrading to Windows 7 though.
Now I am using Mac Book Pro with OSX 10.7.2 and it's running very well. Even the waveforms on the Serato DJ Intro v1.05 which I prefer to use is clear and fluid. I just hope the effects lights, 4-deck ability and shorter loop ranges would be added on the next upgraded Serato DJ Intro version for the Ergo.
I suggest taking out the Windows Vista on the list of minimum software requirements on the Ergo product sheets. This misinformation is very disappointing.
Thanks Pioneer Team.
@Rex > Glad to hear you're up and running, but I've used it with Vista on another machine and didn't have the same problems you did, so while it's a disappointment from your experience, it does function.
@Pulse> I'm sorry to say this but on this review link, it clearly mentioned of Ergo running in Windows XP and 7 only but not Vista.
http://imixmag.com/pioneerddjergo.html
You have also posted earlier on 13th January about the issues when running Ergo with Vista OS.
Anyway, I'm already out of this issue and now moving on to experience the best in Pioneer DJ technology.
In my opinion, the perfect DJ software partner for the Ergo in Serato DJ Intro. I just hope Pioneer team could help get Serato improve the features which already are in VDJ and/or Algoriddim Djay and/or Traktor.
These are:
Effects lights (mix, beat, launch and FX pulse) illumination
4-deck capability
shorter loop ranges (1/2, 1/4, 1/8, 1/16...)
added effects e.g. brake, backspin etc. (Note: HPF and LPF are redundant. Ergo already have the filter knob on the harware)
I know this is out of the topic on this thread and should be posted in Serato website but we (Ergo users) need Pioneer's support to make it happen.
I guess this thread about the unresponsive controls can now be closed.
Thank you again and more power to you Pioneer DJ team!
@Rex > That imixmag.com website is amongst the worst I've ever seen (visually), and it's not a be-all-and-end-all resource for DJ information, so the fact they didn't mention Vista is insignificant. The problem with Vista is that it's Vista, yet things do still operate, ERGO included.
Re: your feature requests, I've been told that the illumination / jog light rotation will not be supported under Intro, nor will 4 deck capability (the software only supports 2) and there are no plans to include it when Itch and Scratch Live do (and are paid programs).
@Pulse> I appreciate your explanation.
I am willing to buy a Serato program as long as all these features would be in it. What do you recommend best for Ergo Itch or SL and which version? What do I expect to get with these 2 programs so I could compare them first? Do you have the list of abled and disabled features in Ergo for comparison? I can give you my email address if you prefer to reply thru it. Thanks.
@Rex > Unfortunately, Itch requires an Itch-embedded controller (like the DDJ-S1) and Scratch Live only works with SL compatible hardware (like an SL-3 box or a Rane TTM57SL mixer). For ERGO, you're limited to other programs such as the 4 officially supported (Virtual DJ, Traktor, Serato Intro and djay), as well as many other MIDI-mappable titles.
Don't think of the features of the ERGO being "disabled" in one software vs. another, but rather the software supporting the buttons and knobs that are on the ERGO. Every controller is different so they'll have their own ways of doing things like 8 hotcues if there's only 4 hotcue buttons.
Honestly, my preferences for the ERGO are Intro and djay.
@Pulse> I understand. I have yet to grab a djay and try it on the ERGO. I heard BPMs could not be edited and no comments could be added on the palylist browser unlike the Intro?
I find the forecasted beat frequency (red and yellow pointed bars) located in the middle on top of the colored waveforms very helpful on beat-matching when cueing the next song. This is what djay and other softwares lack of.
I guess there's no existing software yet which could fit my own personal preferences on the ERGO and just wait for upgraded versions to see if they'll improve.
@Rex > True - it uses the iTunes library (which, to be honest, I'm not a big fan of), so it's locked-out. But for $20, it's a fantastic option for intro / beginner DJs or hobbyists who just want a beautiful application to DJ from!
Intro is probably your best bet and there may be some improvements in the future, but I wouldn't hold my breath on that. ;)
What's up Pulse. Sorry you don't like the look of imixmag. Hopefully one day it will be to your liking :)
Didn't mention Windows Vista on our dedicated Pioneer Ergo page because like you said Vista sucks.
Yes, the website isn't meant to give solutions, just discuss issues the common everyday DJ might have with equipment. The solutions come from you guys. It's your product, we are just the users.
Keep rolling out the great products and I'll keep buying and critiquing them.
