Cannot load driver for DDJ-ERGO (windows7 64bit)

Hi guys,

I'm new to these forums but have been with pioneer gear for a long time.

I have just purchased a DDJ-ERGO and am having a nightmare installing in on a Windows 7 64Bit laptop via the USB connection.

After lots of troubleshooting and trying everything on all the other forums I finally worked out that the Driver version1.1 (the only version I can find anywhere on the internet) is installing but the driver is not being applied to the device in windows. I have tried everything but the device keeps having a windows USB Audio driver applied to it. This of course is a WDM driver and therefore will not work with any of the software. Virtaul DJ LE / Serato. I therefore tried everything possible to load the pioneer driver (ASIO) but it would not take. When running the installer it only extracts some config files and program files and a DDJ_ASIO.DLL file. Nothing that i can use to apply to the device in windows. I even tried evey application under the sun to try pull the exe installed file apart to try and find an INF file.

I was wondering if anyone can help me find the actual driver files (inf) for windows so that I can go to the driver tab in the device properties and force it to use the correct files instead of the Windows USB Audio WDM driver files.

Any help in this matter would be much appreciated. Also I have tried installing ASIO4ALL but it cannot communicate with the DDJ-ERGO. Everything can see the DDJ-ERGO connected just not communicate.

Thanks

M

Welcome to the forums MTL. :)

I hope this helps, but not exactly sure if this is what you were referring to:

HERE is a link to the DDJ controllers where you can proceed to their drivers and firmware files.

And just in case,  HERE is a link to the setup video Pulse made for the DDJ-ERGO on Windows.

If you're looking for the info files for Windows that you mention you might be missing, I think you may have to use your install disk again, or try finding it somewhere else on the web. In my personal opinion, I think you should try re-downloading and installing the software drivers from the provided link, and also ASIO4ALL. If that doesn't work, could you try installing and running it on another computer perhaps?

Thanks for the links but I have already tried the 1.1 version drivers. I have been to all the differente pioneer websites, AU, Japan, Europe etc and they all have the same 1.1 installer driver file. I think this is just a 32bit driver. Does anyone have this device working on a 64bit windows 7 SP1 system? If so when you go to device manager in windows and look at the DDJ ergo and go to properties. Which driver file and version is being used? Maybe someone can send me a copy of the correct files.

Thanks again.

have you tried an other USB PORT ?

Did you use a USB HUB?

The DDJ needs a lot of USB POWER, make sure you are useing as less as possible.

And of course the DDJ Drivers works fine here on Windows 7x64 SP1 :)

greetings

@MTL > As noted, the drivers work in W7-64.  If you're trying to use WDM drivers for it, that won't work; the audio interface is ASIO.  Let us know how you make out.

hey guys,

These are the driver details when checking the properties in windows. I am not using a USB HUB and the specs from ASUS say all 4 ports are USB2 which i assume would be powered. I have tried different usb ports and still no luck. I may think about buying a powered usb hub.

Ok I had a similar (I hope) problem and solved it by reading slowly the instructions. First in sound under settings in windows select the normal sound card (not the ddj ).

Now you should be able to load virtual dj. Go to config IIIINNNN VIIIRTUAL DJJJJ ... top right .... there you are going to go ahead and select the settings that the pink print that came woth the product says ... and voila! .. the driver will show up under windows like is made by windows .. ignore that.... I think that the soft is a kind of virtual driver that uses the driver made by windows and comunicates it to the program.... if you have a question please don't let my terrible english stop you!! cheers

ASIO drivers do not get applied and referenced in the Device Manager view of the device.  What you will always find when looking at the device manager  (like your posted images) is the appropriate Windows Driver Module (WDM) driver.

If you appropriately installed the DDJ ASIO drivers - then you should have a DDJ ASIO Driver Utility in your Programs list.  Start > Programs > Pioneer is the location you can find the utility.  If you open the utility and it properly recognizes the device as being connected then the driver load was successful and will be available to audio programs like VirtualDJ.

Go to VirtualDJ's Config dialog and then properly set the sound settings as follows -

Inputs - None

Outputs - Headphones

Soundcard - ASIO

Select the PIONEER DDJ ASIO Driver from the drop-down to the right of the ASIO graphic.

Hope that helps.

Hello guys.

Please I'm frustrated, I have a similar problem with my DDJ-ERGO-V. My problem is that, I plug the controller, use the driver installer cd, all looks good. But when I go to the device manager there are to devices with a yellow sign that are not installed "DDJ-ERGO MIDI" "PIONEER DDJ-ERGO". I have tried  many things to force the driver to use the file that comes with the installer with no results. Is the third month and I can't get it working on Windows 7 x64. It works well in any other pc with any other operating system, but it just doesn't work on my desktop core i5, dh55pj (intel). I don't know what to do. Windows Update just doesn't recognize the driver, and It never gets installed. I tried all the usb ports with no hubs, but for some reason, windows 7 x64 doesn't recognize it. I re-installed all the operating system, and I get the same result with windows xp x86 or windows 7 x64 in the same machine. I just  bought the new desktop pc to use with the ddj-ergo and I can't get it installed. Please, can someone help me in this situation, as I said, I'm tired about this problem. Thank you, have a good day.

Just wanted to share my experience.  I have windows 7 (64 bit) and just installed DDJ ERgo and the driver.  I could see at start - all programs - pioneer that the 1.100 Asio driver was installed, but when I opened VirtualDJ I could not select the asio driver.

I tried rebooting several times and tried another USB input.  But it took me about 15 minutes before I noticed that under the option "Sound card" you have 2 dropdown lists: the pictured showed "mono seperated" and I was always going through the dropdown list on the right, showing most soundcards.

I didn't notice that I could also drop down the picture with "mono seperated".  The Asio driver in at the bottom of that drop down list... Stupid, but it took me long enough to find...

@MTL did you find a way out? I'm having exactly the same problem. The DDJ-ERGO works with Serato DJ-intro on my windows vista but not on my windows 7-64 (Ultimate).

I've tried it with Traktor 2 (with pioneers own TSI file and latest firmware 1.40 and drivers 1.100), and other DJ softwares that are pre-mapped for DDJ-ERGO but none of them worked on my Windows 7-64.

Can anybody help me out?? Thanks.
