[SOLVED] Recording Mixes on DDJ T1

hi guys, I have a DDJ T1 and would like to start to record some mixes. I see I have a record function on Tracktor screen and it mentions it in the manual but I cant seem to get it to work.

Do I have to upgrade to pro version or am I just being thick?

Thanks,

Rich

does the red light go on when you press the record button.  I have used the record function on several occasions.  Once you are done recording, the file appears in the Track file with a file name that includes the current date.  it can be saved on PC drive.  I have also transferred the file onto my ipod.

one last thing....make sure you configured the controller with the software during the initial setup.

Thanks for reply David, cant remember seeing th red light coming on i`ll check....... I did go into settings and setup folder which mixes need to be stored, do I need to do anything else?

Just out of interest, do you have the standard Tracktor DDJT1 version or pro?

Thanks,

Rich

With the Pioneer Edition as well as the Pro edition, you start recording by pressing on of the Shift buttons + record.

you can visual monitor your recordings bei switching the efekt section in the upper Right corner to the Record modul.

Hi Rich,

I have both but usually use the Standard software.  I just click the record  button with the mouse and the light goes on.

I do not have to do anything further once I go to the recordings file.

Sorry I could not be more help.

Regards,

David

The other thing to note is if you don't have a recording destination set, it won't record!

@Michael > It records to WAV, I don't see why you'd need a codec to play it.  With what program are you trying to play it back?

Trying to play it back on wmp on vista. Also downloaded the upgrade for the sample decks on tp2 but the needle search start function isn't working. Don't know much about mapping, anything u can suggest? Cheers

Well, I'm not sure why it says that, WAV is a supported format for WMP.  Grab VLC and see if that plays it (it usually plays EVERYTHING).

As for the sampler decks, I'll have to play around with that to see what's what.

I had to change the output of the recording, it was trying to record from the laptop internal soundcard, go into settings and change the recording output to the DDJ-T1.

I can't remember the exact menu and option names because I'm at work, but you'll see it in the settings.

My recording works, but playback is very quiet. Any idea how to fix this?

Cheers

@Ross > Are you saying the recording levels are low or the playback volume is low?  What program are you using to playback the recording?

@Pulse, thanks for getting back to me. The playback volume is low. For instance if I record a mix and then play it back in Itunes or burn it onto a disk I have to have the volume on full on my CD player or Ipod, and even then It is very quiet.

@Ross > Have you checked that the recording level setting is high enough that you're getting a decent volume there?  It seems to me that the recording is quiet which is why playback on all devices is quiet as well.

@Pulse, Where do I find that setting? On Traktor-Preferences-mix recorder there is no option to change the output recording level. just to switch from internal to external. I have it as internal so to record to my latptop

@Ross > There is the ability to adjust the recording level in the recording utility top-right:

Turn that GAIN knob until you see the meters peaking below the red.

@Pulse, thanks dude this seems to have made it better. It is still quiet compared to regular CD's but that has made it better.

As long as your channel and master levels within the software are decent, the gain on the recording is the third and final place to adjust and increase the volume for your recording.  I sincerely doubt you'd be unable to make it loud enough somewhere along the line.

Please Make sure your Settings in Traktor "Record" is set up to Internal !

After that Press Shift + Record (right from the Browse Knob) on your DDJ, and se if ist Recording.

(red light at the Top of Traktor close to the Master Out and Engine LOAD)

I'm actually having the same problem. But still not recording! I go on settings and everything is as you said, but on the output record settings when i press L or R all i have is DDJ-T1 MASTER or DDJ-T1 PHONES, is anything missing here? I used to have a Behringer and I could record straight from USB connection, am I missing something here? Do I really need to plug some cables at the back to record? Sorry for making all of this questions.

I'd be more thank happy if anyone could help me.
