[SOLVED] Traktor Stopped Recognizing the DDJ-T1 When I Used a USB Hub to Connect.

Never use any controller with a usb hub. It's recommended to plug the controller directly into the usb port.

The USB hub is NOT self-powered (just a USB multiplier) and yes, I was using the wall-power adapter for the T1.

Since my initial post on this page, I also contacted Native Instruments about the same problem and their rep told me the HUB caused all of the MIDI-mapping of the DDJ to be wiped clear and unless I wanted to remap everything manually again, recommended I get the upgrade for USD$79 (Original: USD$669: http://www.native-instruments.com/#/en/products/dj/traktor-scratch-pro-2/?page=2052).

I decided to do this as it is well-worth the USD$79 than to take a chance my DDJ-T1 wouldn't work again. I am waiting for my serial # to activate the upgrade, so I cannot say things are 100% good to go again...just yet.

I highly suggest you make it well-publicized to NEVER use the DDJ-T1 through a USB hub or anything other than a direct input. If this is well-known with controllers, I definitely have learned my lesson, and thankfully, my situation on-site of my gig could have been much worse of a tragedy.

Shenanigans! The use of a hub does not wipe your MIDI configuration nor do you require an upgrade purchase for it to work again. Simply try another hub (or a powered version) and re-run the hardware setup wizard located under the help menu.

Ok first of all I am assuming you are using the Traktor Scratch Pro that you got

from buying your Audio DJ 8. This is fine but it's software that was written way

before the DDJ-T1 so everything you do has to be mapped manually via .tsi files

which you might have lost when you plugged in with a non-pwrd USB hub.

You do however have the option to reinstall to try to resolve the issue, but I

recommend that you take advantage of the:

TRAKTOR Pioneer DDJ-T1 Edition 2 compatible DDJ-T1 Update

Since I know nothng about mapping anything manually, I guess he got my sale.

For your info as well as anyone else who may have this problem, I never tried to connect through a HUB again, but did reinstall the entire Traktor Scratch Pro software and when I tried the SetUp Wizard, "Native Instruments -Traktor Scratch Pro was not an option in the Wizard Setup Product drop-down menu, so I could not continue with the Wizard.

You should also know, (many others may not have this available), but after this incident with the HUB, my software no longer recognized my DDJ-T1 controller AS WELL AS ANOTHER FRIEND'S DDJ-T1.

I will update my post as soon as I get my DDJ-T1 back up and running which I am hoping happens with the upgrade I just purchased.  If it does not, then maybe the Macbook Pro has erroneous files on the HD (from my original install) that are hindering the Traktor Scratch Pro software that was derailed with the Hub?

What I missed on the first round that was an obvious clue -- you're running 1.0.0.250 -- a seriously outdated version which would not support the DDJ-T1 under the support wizard.  The USB hub and device non-recognition is irrelevant to the bigger problem of the fact your software is quite old.  Update the software (I believe the latest was 1.2.7).

Upgrading to version 2.x is a much better option, and should be free as an owner of the DDJ-T1.

I appreciate your response, however, you may have also missed that it was working FINE when I used it for the very first time (with the same out-dated software) and I never used the Wizard to set it up.  All I did was literally, plug it in and turn it on.  It was only when I tried to use a USB hub that it messed everything up.

Unfortunately, the software upgrade was not free, and I have already paid for it, but that's ok, if it gets me back up and going, it will be well-worth it.

@Stephany > I did read that it worked fine -- but what I'm saying is while it may have worked because of use with a TSI file, the DDJ-T1 was officially (and natively) supported as of later versions.

I guarantee to you that the use of the USB hub had ABSOLUTELY no bearing on the DDJ not functioning; it was more likely the fact your computer was then recognizing it as being connected to a different USB port (which, technically, it was thanks to the hub) and the mappings within Traktor were listening for MIDI signals coming in from a USB port that the DDJ was no longer connected to.

If you're now upgraded to 2.x and it's working, fantastic!

Thanks for your response.  What you have said, makes total sense, but one shouldnt have to know all of that techie stuff if they just want to plug and play....not to mention, the horrific result by not knowing they should NOT use a hub with the DDJ-T1...

I have (since my last post) tested the DDJ-T1 with the upgrade and everything seems to be working fine.  The Set-up Wizard even has the DDJ-T1 listed as an option plus more! Good stuff!

Im currently using pioneer ddj t1 with windows pc,

Im about upgrading to macbook pro md103 (release in 2012) with all usb ports are usb 3.0 and new os.

Do pioneer ddj runs without problems in this macbook pro?

I read a lot of forums says that the latest macbook pro had problems with the compability of various controller..

You should be fine, update the fw/drivers/sw and all should be good.  I run it on a MBP without issues.
