[SOLVED] DDJ-S1 and Bose L1M2 System Questions

Hey guys,

I'm sure there are lovers and haters of the Bose L1 system, but let's keep this positive please. I have the Bose L1 Model 2 system with a pair of their new B2 subs. Is anyone else using this or a similar system? I am just curious about a few things:

1-Where do you have that 0, -6, -12 switch set on the back of the DDJ?

2-Where are you running the trim on the Bose Powerstand?

3-What are your settings under "setup" on the Itch program? Especially the part in the photo attached to this post.

I am just trying to get the optimal sound out of my system. I love it so far, but I have some tweaking to do. Also, does the bitrate of these files really make a huge difference?

The long and short of all of your questions is basically where are you setting master attenuation.

If do pay attention to your levels (don't run in the orange / red) then you can set all these to 0dB and play away fine.

Bitrate of files does make a huge difference particularly when amplified - you should always strive for 320kb files at a minimum.

Hey djjoebunn,

Not sure if you finally tweaked your Bose L1MII+B2 system to your satisfaction, but I just picked up a pair of these myself and here are my settings:

  1. I don't have a DDJ but on my DJM-5000 (which is my wedding gig mixer and that's what I'm going to be using these L1s for primarily) is set at 0 dB on both master and zone outputs. No need to even push past 0 dB on the master LEDs.
  2. The trim on my Bose power stand sits at 12 o'clock during "show level" but I start the evening at the 9 o'clock position so that I don't  risk a high noise floor when playing soft music for dinner, etc.
  3. N/A since I don't use Itch.

I just posted my impressions of the Bose L1 Model II with B2 sub (I have 2 sets) on the Bose L1 forum at the URL below. In a nutshell, the B2s are somewhat lacking in the <80Hz frequency range so I'm using them with my JBL-PRX618XLF subs for the bigger weddings, or even adding the PRX635 tops for super-huge events leaving the Bose L1s to cover the back corners in a 4-point system configuration...
