[SOLVED] DDJ T-1 Making very loud high pitched buzz, making it impossible to use headphones
Hi,
I’ve been using my Pioneer DDJ T-1 for almost a year now and I love it! However recently it has developed an issue that seems to be getting worse, a strange buzz in the headphones that happens soon after switching the unit on with my Windows 7 laptop running Traktor 2, updated recently to make sure it’s the latest version with any bug fixes. The sound is a sharp buzzing sound in the headphones that starts gradually and picks up, it take about 5 seconds and the sound is really loud and constant volume in the headphones. It completely kills the cue and makes the headphones impossible to use. The volume knob for headphone effects it and I can turn it all the way off to save from damaging my headphones. I switch off the DDJ-T1 with the switch on the back and switch it on again, this stops the sound but I must restart traktor to get audio output again, and the buzz comes back after a minute or 2. I say it has been getting worse and worse because it used to happen once in a while but now it happens pretty much every time I use the DDJ-T1.
Troubleshooting so far:
Ground Loop, using 2 pin plug on the laptop has increased my sound quality on output but makes no difference on this other sound.
New USB cable, no difference, still develops that sound in the headphones after a few minutes of use.
Different headphones and using the large and small jack all do nothing to help.
I saw a post about something similar happening with the DDJ WeGO, says they have a fix in the firmware update. I hope that it does the same for me, I’m about to try this and will get back to you if it works out ok.

Has anyone had a similar problem??? Looking for any suggestions on how to fix it

Hi. i have the EXACT same issue on my DDJ-T1. Have you found any solutions to your problem? I would really appreciate any advice. Thanks.
Hi Guys,
SO I struggled with this for ages and was told that my DDJ-T1 needs to be serviced by the Pioneer UAE Office when I reported it. I haven't taken it in yet but I've solved the problem by installing Windows XP on the laptop I use to perform, instead of Windows 7. Quite a big job but worth it because the sound was eliminated in Windows XP. This leads me to think that its a Software Problem. I hope this helps.. Mine is working fine now but I'm disappointed that it took at complete OS change to make it work.
Hey Mandla,
Do you know how long it would take to be serviced?
It could be a problem with something as simple as the power supply switching and the drivers in the laptop that manage that function. Try disconnecting the power from the laptop and see if the problem disappears, or try another computer. If either of those cases resolves the issue, the problem is certainly not the controller. If it persists, please contact Pioneer technical support via the links at the right to have the unit serviced.
