DDJ-SX and USB Extension cable

I've been using my DDJ-SX for a few weeks now and it's been working great! I really love this thing.  I recently re-arranged my setup and the location that i put the DDJ in requires the use of a USB extension cable. Not a very long one, 5ft maybe.  However every time i open serato, it crashes.  If i close serato, unplug the usb extension and restart the SX, it will work fine.  I've tested this multiple times now with 2 different extension cables and got the same result.  Sometimes, it won't crash but the program won't run correctly.  After loading a song onto a deck, the track won't play  and some of the UI pieces (the BPM on top of the round white wheel) don't show up.  This all works perfectly when i'm not using the extension cable.

Has anyone else seen this issue or know of a way to fix it?

EDIT: I actually have to restart the DDJ-SX itself to remedy it, just restarting serato alone won't fix it.  So if i use the extension, and serato crashes, then i remove the extension and restart serato, it still wont work.  The SX must be restarted as well.  Just tested this several times.
