No - this is the way Serato operates. You can load songs or assign sample files to them.
If you want to record samples on the fly, those are called "Hot Cues."

[SOLVED] DDJ SZ Sampler-less
Am I right in saying you can't record your own samples on the fly with the sample pads of the DDJ SZ?
If so, what a massive disappointment.
I currently have the NI Traktor Kontol S4 with 2x Kontrol F1 and was looking into upgrading my setup to a SZ which will seem pointless if I can't record my own samples directly from the sample pads.
