[CLOSED] New DDJ-SX2 Jog Wheel Problems

Hi just got my DDJ-SX2 today and the jog wheels are acting strange. When I touch them the song doesn't stop, it just crawls along and behaves erratically. I've pressed shift + Deck 1&3 to adjust the sensitivity and even set it to it's max setting but that didn't work. I press shift + Slip/Vinyl to go back and forth between the two and nothing.

When I do a simple back and forth scratch the position slowly creeps around the jog wheel and doesn't stay in the same place. I purchased this unit brand new and it's acted this way right out of the box. First thing I did was download and install the latest firmware 1.05 and updated Serato to 1.7.2. I'm running Windows 8.1, 3.5 ghz i5 quad core and 8gb ram.

Do I have a defective unit?

Hi David

I am encountering the same problem with the DDJ SX2 jog wheel.  I've used 2 of DDJ SX previously and had the jog wheel problem and firmly believed that MK2 version of DDJ SX would've resolved this issue.  Im very frustrated and disappointed at Pioneer products and also lack of information from the Pioneer corporation.  It would be a great if anyone can address this issue or a method to fix this problem.

Dear Pulse. Thank you for getting back to this topic.  I've done everything that was listed on the website except the Grounding section.  Jog Wheel latency is still there even after adjusting the sensitivity to the maximum.  Its frustrating when the sound wave on Virtual Deck starts to drift away when my fingers are on the jog wheel doing baby scratch.  Its difficult or impossible to do fast chirp or flare because of this problem.

I've yet to try the grounding connection method, but my question is what am i suppose to do when I am at a gig or at the club?  Perhaps my DDJ Sx2 is not working properly?  I am so jealous when i see some of the DDJ Sx2 users without any issues.  This is my 3rd DDJ SX with same issue and such a let down.

Thanks for the reply Pulse,

I tried all of the trouble shooting steps but I still have the problem. Even with max sensitivity the sound and the indicator on the jog wheel slowly slips away when I put my had on it and will not stay in place. I think I'm going to return it.

Dear Pulse

I also tried the suggestions but to no avail, however what I did try is using the unit with Virtual DJ8 rather than the preferred Serato DJ 1.7.3 the jog wheel works fine with Virtual DJ8.  The DDJ-SX2 is running 1.05 (which I did try reloading - but still no joy with Serato DJ).  Therefore in my case the hardware seems to be fine but the mix of DDJ-SX2 and Serato DJ is causing the issue - this is only for the Left jog wheel using either 1 or 3 deck

My set up is a Mac Pro Book late 2011 with Yosemite 16GB Mem, Pioneer DDj-SX2 (v1.05) and Serato DJ 1.7.3

Hope this helps

@Chris > Given that this isn't your post, I don't know what your problem is. Could you please start a new topic and provide us with information on your issue? Thanks!

I'm having the Same Problem.

I have the SX2 for 2 months and a yesterday the Touch stopped working.

Ussually when i touch on the Jog the track stops and now... nothiing !!

It acts like there is no Touch and when i turn it the jog to do scratch it slows or increasing the speed of the track till i'm releasing.

I barely use the sx2 (maybe about 12 hours) . Deck 1 - the touch stopped working and after a few minutes - the touch of Deck 2 stopped also to work.

I'm using SERATO 1.73 (DELL , Win7 Pro ,16GB , 120SSD)

Is there a FACTORY Reset of the SX2 ?

As a basic check for anyone still on this thread needing assistance / viewing this thread in future...

If your jog is not scratching, first check that you have vinyl mode enabled by pressing SHIFT + SLIP. This is the method by which you enable/disable vinyl mode.

Anyone else having a problem similar to those noted above, please start a new topic of your own and we will be happy to provide assistance.
