Have you considered playing with the outputs lower than +5? Say ... zero? Or possibly disabling the peak limiter within SDJ?
Hello,
I'm having an issue where the master audio output level of the DDJ-SZ unit will suddenly and dramatically decrease while playing (this change in volume is NOT reflected by either the channel or master VU meters). This is certainly unacceptable for performing. Interestingly, all it takes is power-cycling the unit to have the output level restored to full volume (semi-tolerable at home, but again, unacceptable for performing). Also, the unit is never used with either channel or master db levels reaching any higher than +5. The peak limiter function is enabled by default...what db level is the limiter set to engage at? Has anyone else experienced this issue? Pioneer, are you aware of this issue?

Yes. I was mentioning that as an absolute maximum that I play at. Typically the levels are at +0. What level is the peak limiter set to engage at? How long does the peak limiter stay active for? Once the volume drops, power cycling is the only way to return it to the normal output level....
Okay, engineers have informed me that this issue had already been brought to their attention (even though it's the first I've seen it in the forums) and there will be a firmware fix for this in the near future. Thanks for reporting this and for your patience while we fait for the update!
Hi there, I have the same problem, it only happens with the SZ. I have the ss1 and the SX never had that problem, only with the SZ, it happens randomly, the volume just drops, and I play in a club with a crowd of 400 and suddenly drops the volume I thinks is unfair that the less expensive at the lowest end of pioneers do better the the SZ. Please let me know if there is a fix or is it a hardware problem, I have 3 years of warranty to send them back and get working controller.
@Victor > Have you updated the firmware and/or drivers for the SZ?
Same issue with my new 2000$+ controller ( DD-SZ) !!!!!!! never had issues with SX, i'm on the latest firmware, drivers, brand new macbook, latency is right, everything that should be done is done properly & tested all the combinations that could fix it with no luck... i'm getting audio drop outs, skips, slowdowns ( it's like the song want to stop but then get back to normal), im using serato 1.9 though.... that is totally unacceptable
Pioneer, please focus on your hardware like good old days instead of releasing a new controller each 2 month !!!!! you have millions of fans that blindly trust you!
@Gaby > If you're having audio drop-outs, then the latency might be too low - increase the buffer size. You may also follow some of the optimization steps on the Serato site.
@pioneer @ pulse,
I'm a mac & Serato expert, i did all the optimization required, latest drivers & firmware, clean OS, no other software installed else than Serato, library is about 20 Gega with approx 1500 songs.... DD J-SZ... tried all latency settings, latest serato DJ versions, my mac have more specs than the minimum required, no CPU spikes all normal still not trustful enough... I'm a professional DJ & a well known name in the country. it's very disappointing to have hiccups, audio drops in a middle of a 2000 people concert or a wedding... BIG disappointment, believe me you dont want to get into this situation... i'm regretting buying a 2300$ " Professional controller" to end up like this. sometimes when loading a song all the screen freezes for about 2 seconds then works normally ( my heart starts beating like hell waiting for the crash each time loading a new song ) sometimes the song slows down for about 2 seconds ( like it's gonna stop) & then gets back to normal... i'm really missing the good old pioneer days...
Telling me you have problems with it doesn't help us diagnose why the problems occur; what are you doing when the problem arises? Are you using any plugins? Does it happen with a specific format of audio file (MP3, WAV, AIFF, AAC, FLAC)? Are you running an effect, loop, etc. at the time? Do you have the problem when using another computer with that same controller?
I own a ddj sz and a xdj rx , with rekodbox dj , when I use the ddj sz , the volume is so much weaker then xdj rx ..
the xdj rx respond to the mixing cross fader curve that is on the controller menu , use the last curve and u get the best sound from it and it is awesome . To do this on rekodbox dj >preference ( the star thingy )>controller >mixer > logarithmic curve, . U will get a very goooood sound and will be very happy with xdj rx , but I don't know why , when I use ddj sz the sound sinks so bad and it doesn't respond to any of the 3 curves from the menu . the only respond is from the local knob at the crossfader curve on the front (edge) . I hope pioneer can do something about this and if the DDJ SZ can do the same as XDJ RX .. it will the best ever controller machine in this world . I hope pioneer will look into this
Has Pioneer fix this problem yet? I have the latest rekordbox 6. So much distortion when the it passed zero. So, I had to play at zero. The vendor had to crank up the gain so high on his mixer then tremendous humming noise to the house speakers.
