My CDJ2000 wont read any disc

Just purchased a pair of CDJ 2000, great players, until i found one of them wont read any disc at all, it doesn't give me any error or message, I only insert the disc and it ejects it 10 seconds later without giving me any error. Is like when i insert a disc upside down on any other player

Any help would be apreciated

I also updated the firmware from 4.01 to 4.04 in order to resolve this issue, it didn't work at all

Cheers

if you have just bought it, i would take it back to the shop, unless bought from somewhere like ebay

i know every country is different, but you are sure to have some time period to return an item for an exchange,

in the UK if the item is less than 30 days then you are entitled to a replacment or refund, anything over 30 day the shop may offer a replacment however this is at their discretion

check how consumer rights works in your own contry before screaming at the shop owner tho

@Tarmadadj > Does it do that with EVERY CD, including ones you bought at the store?

yes, i tested Burned CDs, Store CDs and DVDs, i want to discard any problem like dust or other think like that and it doesnt really matter because i dont use CDs in my gigs but i am worried, i hope is the only think is broken, i really think that the lens is the part broken and in my region there is no Pioneer distributor or tech assistants. so i would have to send it and it would waste many days

@Tarmadadj > In most places, if you've purchased within 15-30 days, you can return it to the store for an exchange as a "dead-on-arrival" unit.  After that period (or if the store manager simply won't exchange it), you would have to send it to an authorized Pioneer service shop.  And while it is unfortunate that there are none close to you, that's the process you'll have to take for repair if you choose to do so.  The best thing you can do is contact your store and tech support (contacts are at the right).

I chose to not have it serviced because it would cost  me nearly 400 dls including shipping + taxes, i know these kind of things tend to happen but i feel pioneer could at least made sure that their equipment is totally functional when is shipped to retailers, my packaging was mint, the deck itself was perfect and it does not show any problem besides the fact it ejects all the discs, in fact i am pretty sure the problem is within the lens of the player because the disc spins and after like 15 seconds it stops so even i could fix that but thats not the point. At least i dont play discs and probably in the future buy an 850 for that purpose or may consider another manufacturer

We are talking about players that cost around 2 grand, plus taxes and shipping in my case so i expected none but the best and most reliable equipment, i have a pretty good experience with my CDJ 400 and now i have mixed feelings and i am wondering if buying the DJM 900 i was planning to buy at the end of the year is a good idea at all

I can tel u its definitly not a problem with the laser coz i do not have any pioneer tech support in my country so i took it to a repairman suggested by the retailer i bought the cdjs from and ha fixed it in a day claiming there was a problem in the cicuit board.there is no way he could replace parts so fast, rather i suspect that a fault occured in the loading mechanism. Pulse said this problem was rare but my old mk3s were reliable rocksolid for the two years i used them but my 2000 is only a year old.we can expect reliability from the so called industry leading dj players after spending so much money on the, cant we?

Guys, Pioneer is manufacturing a LOT of CDJ-2000's and there have been less than 5 users (from my memory) report problems with discs not loading.  Five of tens of thousands is a very small percentage, and as we've seen, things DO happen to players in transport and even after they've passed QC.  That's why there's a warranty.  If you circumvented the warranty by buying out-of-country or from eBay, you miss out on that security and have to pay.  If you're outside the year mark, it's not covered by warranty as it wouldn't be an "as shipped" problem, but something that may have manifested over time or from damage incurred by the user.  They strive to make quality products that will last but your mileage will vary with mechanical and electrical components as they fail at different rates.  The best thing we can suggest is you have the unit serviced.   If you choose not to have the unit serviced due to the cost of repair, that's hardly a fault of Pioneer's.

As i say, i am well aware of  this risk, but unfortunately in my country there is NOT pioneer service nor sales representatives at least as far as i investigated so my only election was to buy these outside or not buy anything so i chose the best brand i could afford to minimize risks and thats by i am a bit disappointed because this is my first broken product and it happens to be the most expensive one, the same product is designed to last at clubs.

Any ways we are getting off topic and if the player doesnt present more problems i will keep it, but if any other component breaks before warranty expires i will send it to be serviced. and for now i am pretty happy with it

I was in the same situation as tarmadadj.i my nearest official pioneer centre was in singapore where i had the units imported from.cost of shipping and local tax along with the cost of the cdjs and mixer nearly cost me a kidney. I had upgraded from cmx 3000 to 1000 mk 3 to cdj 2000 expecting tge same reliability i had in the past so when my 2000 had a glitch,i cant help but be pissed off and disapointed from pioneer because i paid the most for the 2000s.i was lucky enough to get my unit repaired by a mechanic suggested by my importer of my equipment but i am scared for the future if something worse happens
