They are able to tweak the MT algorithm on both the cdj-900/cdj-2000 With a little bit of luck their will come an update which will improve MT even further
I recently bought one CDJ-900 as an upgrade for my DJ equipment. It works great for me with one exception. I mix Trance, very often instrumental and uplifting tracks, sometimes slower Progressive tracks. Mixing in key is somewhat essential for me, however CDJ's Master Tempo quality isn't satisfying enough. There are glitches and sound issues that make it very hard for me to beatmatch, and sometimes even to listen to my tracks after mixing. One of the examples is the track I made with my friend - during the break, when the pitch is at +1.5% you can hear disortion, cracks and other stuff that makes listening to a set very difficult. CD players from other companies didn't have that issue.
I compared CDJ's audio quality to VirtualDJ's Master Tempo. CDJ sounds closer to option "Fast Stretching" in performances tab in options. I think, that for a high-class CD player like 900 I should get at least something closer to "Advanced Stretching" setting in VDJ.
Upgrading software from 3.10 to 4.04 did some small improvements, but glitches still appear. Some other songs, especially those with thin beats, show another glitches - when speeding up some beats are missing, when slowing down some beats are "doubled".
Is it even possible to fix this, or to improve Master Tempo quality even more? Maybe CDJ 900 should have another, better Master Tempo algorithm in its software? I love this player and mixing on CD Players without DJ software, however this issue makes it unable for me to mix most of tracks in key...

Thanks for your feedback BencPl. As always, we pass this information along to the team in Japan.
As Firmwar3 points out, Pioneer constantly tries to tweak the algorithm to improve the audio quality.
OK, I guess I have to wait for an firmware update then.
Thanks for your support Gavin.
I have discovered one more issue recently.
Very often, when playing a track with MT on, beats are off place. This makes it even more difficult to make a smooth mix and nice transitions.
I never had a Problem with master tempo , its been a year and a half since i'm using the 900s

Hi everyone! I own a pair of cdj-900's I've noticed the same exact issue when using master tempo function. I often work with traktor scratch where traktor uses its own master key feature pretty flawlessly. The sound gets glitchy as soon as i turn master tempo on and start using the tempo slider. I never had any issues with 1000's mk3. Thanks!
I thought this was only me having this problem until talking to a friend on the weekend who has the same issue, I thought it was just certain songs with too much "swing" on them so never really thought it could be the cdj until i started using traktor where there is no issues whatsoever. When can we expect this issue to be resolved? Ive never had this problem with the 1000's either... It makes beat matching really hard and even when it is matched properly there is the odd beat which will be out of alignment. Do you have any idea when the next firmware update will be?
ive been mixing for a while now on the cdj 900's but never noticed any problem on the master tempo until recently i started recording my mix and the beats sound slightly out of sync during transition even with proper tight beatmatching.anyway has the firmware 4.05 fixed this master tempo issue?
Engineers are still investigating the issue.
