Huge flaw with using CD's, USB and SD at the same time! Why is this?

Im a 17 year vet DJ and have used every model but the 900. I have to say that this 2000 is the weirdest ever and I'd prefer to have my hard earned 4G's and my CDJ400's back. It was my huge birthday party last night and DeeJay Roland Clark (best friends with Todd Terry and used to live with Fatboy Slim) comes in and gave me a short break since I was spinning a 6 hour set which I don't mind at all but he uses CD's still and I use USB & SD only. U can flip flop between USB & SD back and forth without any issues. Whenever Roland inserted a CD into a player it wouldn't work properly. I just read the manual when I got home and I see that I must go into utilities and select that player to use that CD. I do not have to do this with USB or SD so why CD's? Why not make this a huge "NOTE before operating CD" in the front of the manual and not hidden in tiny print in the back. Ok that's my fault for not reading the entire manual thoroughly but when I eject the USB it shouldn't stop play on the CD once the CD is playing. Where is the simplicity anymore? I hate having to write about how many flaws these players have but they are full of them! they wouldn't even fader start until they 1.5 years old.  This is ridiculous! I was afraid to unplug the link to avoid this whole situation because the ethernet port is messed up in one player to were I have to tape it or wedge something against the plug to keep it stable. I have only unplugged the ethernet cable 3 times because I own a 1 piece coffin. I posted about the bad ethernet ports and you guys erased my post. That was messed up! I have 2 other friends with bad ethernet ports too here in Atlanta so it's not a fluke. Pioneer uses 20 cent ethernet ports.

They loop drift bad even still ( MTempo on or off), they play drift bad with the exact same song locked on 0 pitch, I don't like being forced to use Rekordbox, I saw the post about the horrible firmware upgrade, like I said they didn't fader start for well over a year, I was told to not use the Master Tempo button cause it was flawed (which is stupid to install something that later I'm told not to use!) (I never ever had this problem with any other Pioneer model!) and I'm tired of writing this forum about all of these problems and stressed to the point of either pressuring u to urge Pioneer to truly fix these problems or start a class action suit against Pioneer. Stealing something over $500 is a felony so I'm sure that selling $4000 worth of garbage to consumers will give me a leg to stand on. These are valid points and I have been crapped on by u guys since the start. Well I never had to touch a forum before these players so seriously what does that tell u Gavin? I run a million $ night club where I manage and DJ, I travel as well, I collaborate with another DJ and 5 Break dancers, I have 4 websites that I am personally building myself and about 40-50 web pages supporting them for my SEO, I produce tracks/mixes/videos, I'm working with billion $ corporations for sponsorship right now, I tutor other DJ's and I still throw events. I don't even have time for a girlfriend so do u think I appreciate having to write anything at all on this forum? I'd prefer my gear to just work properly but it doesn't! I'd rather just call and get a real answer but a billion $ corp like Pioneer has no phone support. I truly know how Pioneer works. More than u think I do. DJ 2nd Nature helped co-produce the DVJ and he's a good friend of mine. Dean Coleman was one of the first Pioneer sponsored DJ's and he's another good friend of mine. Neither of them work with Pioneer anymore because Pioneer is not very helpful.

Before there was no way to downgrade firmware but the latest is so bad Pioneer figured out how to do that so please I beg u to encourage them to perfect them ASAP or they will surely become dust in the wind just like Technics did. I'm a Taurus and this is ruining my birthday and is messing with my career as a DJ so I won't give up! Sorry Gavin. These are valid points. It's not like I'm asking where the power button is like some of these guys on this forum. I believe that I am just. Isn't the customer always right and not to be a jerk but I've prob been using Pioneer equipment longer than u. (no disrespect)

I can't afford being down 4-6 weeks to send them in and there's no guarantee that u can fix these issues anyway. I know Pioneer can fix my bad ethernet port but can a 2000 be re-calibrated to fix the drift problems? I see that I even have to pay to ship them back to be fixed when Pioneer knowingly sold them with flaws. That's ridiculous! Can u please tell me how this can be solved. I'd prefer to have them swapped out locally for 2 new ones but would anything really change? Please remember that this is over multiple malfunctions on gear worth $4000 not a $100 needle. They just don't build em like they used to!!! ha! I have way more invested than just the $4000 bro...

I rarely write down stuff on this forum but i have to agree 100% with the guys on this post.

already time for Pioneer to take those matters more seriously and fix things for good! a couple of years since the release now so it should be already working flawless.

and we are no noobs here also Johnboy! enough road time to point everything that doesn't work like they should on those cdjs. a piece of cake to prove if the hard way (justice) has to be taken.

@Johnboy > To address your first comment about the SD / USB / CD -- I don't know what the problem is that you encountered, but I'm able to change between ANY source, including linked devices and PC control, without any issue.  Were you trying to link a CD source?  That's not possible; you can only play audio from the CD on the player it is inserted into.

As for your concern about the ethernet port, I'm sorry but you will have to send it in for repairs.  There is a phone number you can call for support - it's located at the right side of every page.  Yes, you will be without your players for some time, but from your post, it sounds like you're successful and as a successful DJ, you would very likely have backup equipment, correct?

These are valid points and I have been crapped on by u guys since the start. Well I never had to touch a forum before these players so seriously what does that tell u Gavin?

We don't "crap on" anything.  We pass along the comments to the engineers and product development teams for review.  Changes don't come quickly, but they do come when and where possible.

As you likely understand, the CDJs are no longer just a CD player and as such, there are many complexities in designing, building and using such a device.  Where the problems used to come from a bad CD, there are now literally dozens of ways problems can develop.  Pioneer has been working hard to improve the players and the performance and there have been several updates which have addressed issues you mentioned in your post.

I would encourage you to put your sentiments in a letter to Pioneer official - if you'd like I can email you the contact information.  It would get more attention than a post in the forums.

Any words about a new possible upcoming up for the firmware Pulse? or which issues they are working on?

I've also switched between different media with no problems.

You must remember that when you switch to a CD you have to load the track by pushing the load knob.

i cant count the times i had Djs go on after me and they wanted to play a CD in the deck that i had previously

played USB, and they dont know that you not only have to push the CD button but also they have to load the track

by pushing the load (selector) knob. maybe Roland wasn't loading his track properly.

funny story: i had a DJ go on after me once and he slid his CD in one of the players hit the CD button, scrolled to the song he

wanted to play, but didn't push the knob. so he hits play (and as you might know, if you dont hit the select knob whatever song

was playing last will play) so the last song i played on that unit started playing and i guess in his headphones the intro sounded just like the intro to his song so he ended up playing my song! he didnt even realize it untill after he mixed it in. I walked over and said "man, i just played this track. he was all confused then i look down and laughed, "your playing my song dumba**!! LOL

One of my friends played the same track THREE times in a row at Spybar in Chicago because of that knob issue. :) He was tagging with another friend of mine who was playing off of USB (and who apparently was of no help in explaining the issue).  Twice is frustrating… Three times is hilarious (if it happens to somebody else, anyway).

This wont help but i think Johnyboy needs to chill a bit. Mate if you dont like the players buy something else with your multi million pounds/dollars that you say you have. If had millions of pounds i wouldnt be bothered if my ethernet port broke, i would just buy a new cdj2000, they are awesome.

A good trades man never blames his tools, maybe you need to brush up your skills to use the kit and not blame them :o)

Last night 3 of us rocked 2xCDJ 2000's using 1xUSB stick, CD's on both decks and a HDD on the other deck, we also used Link mode. I even ejected a USB whilst a disk was playing. Actually had a fault free night considering the other two DJ's are normally used to 1000's.

@Anhanguera > No, no information of upcoming firmware is made public.

@T-Top > Drifting (according to the Google) is defined as _the continuous slow movement from one place to another. _In this case, some users have identified that the Master Tempo tends to 'drift' when engaged i.e. it does not stay at a constant speed and, as a result, the mixing sounds messy.

@Kenfold > Easy now...

@Richie > Thanks for the feedback

Oohh! right ,I thought drifting was something that happened when you let go of everything, give up your dreams and bimble through life without any cares or needs ,sleepinng where you fall and never washing again and being a HoBo . But seriously I have now had my cdj2000's a month or so and added to my djm 2k ,I have got to say as I get used to using them and after the R/box 1.54 Crash ! They are damned slick and will probably get a third  or just add the remix 1000. It is not fair to say that issues don't exist with this kit as i have heard plenty of people complaining that the link port rips out real easy and lots of other problems with updates etc....  As is suggested by Gavin ,the variables here are many times that of of the mighty cdj 1000's  days with different file types and formats and in the middle of all that we then add our own laptops which can behave alot worse and cause/ introduce more problems . But who else is produceing kit with the standard of inovation that Pionner do, and when it works it rocks the floor well . We as Pioneer users need to be more patient and Pioneer could be more accommadating with known fault repairs and update fixes where possible(eg add more resourses) as the price Pioneer followers pay for this kit warrants the support of the following from Pioneer . I myself would like to say Good work to Pioneer for putting a smile on many faces not just mine and rocking the ass off many a clubnut courtesy of all the fine Djs /producers that use their kit ,Keep It comin !

I think by "drifting" we are referring basically to a looped sample (for example): an acapella that seems to be shortening and shortening ITSELF and going offbeat even when engaged with one of the preset beats (1/1, 2/1, 4/1) to say in the most general terms. I realize this is all dependent on what the CDJ is reading the bpm at, but I've noticed this happen with simple 4x4 samples and even manually setting the loop with extreme precision. Not that I'm complaining at all, just an issue that I thought should be looked at.

@ Pulse Thanks and I understand that it is more high tech now than ever but they should have perfected it better. I don't like to interface hardware with software (like a laptop) but now the CDJ2000's are exactly that. Oh well! I can hang with the problems because I've been spinning forever but it would be nice if they were more accurate for the price.

@Johnboy > Thanks for understanding -- it's a real chore getting everything "just right" for all the variables and the engineers are doing the best they can to address all the issues presented by the users, so for that we appreciate your patience.

Were you able to sort out the source-switching issue?
