CDJ2000 NEXUS FREEZING ISSUE

Hi all,

sorry another bug to report using CDJ2000 Nexus and RB2.0.1. When using the decks via the pro dj link if I let the track play out on deck A after transitioning a track into deck B when I go back to RB to put a new track into deck A the CDJ shows now loading but nothing happens other than sometimes I get a waiting disk appear on the screen. To be clear the same issue occurs when in the reverse scenario, i.e. adding new record onto deck B once the previous has been left to run out.

The issue doesn't happen when you it cue to end the record finishing. The only way to resolve this is by switching the CDJ off then back on which is very annoying.

Anyone else encountered this ?

The issue 2 from my post here is definitely a issue with the hotcue autoload option.. And it is not acceptable that the 2000 load the hotcues faster than the nexus...

sorry for the continues posts, cannot edit.

So today, you advise to keep the cdj 2000 cdj 2000 where to buy nexus

I don't exactly understand you, but i don't have any advice at all. Just hope pioneer comes out with a new firmware and all major issues will be fixed. Till then i can't use the nexus nowhere but home. I cannot risk to play with them as a pro (as we all are with such expensive gear) and they freeze..

I'm with tasos on this, if you are asking for our advice on whether you should hold onto 2000's or buy the Nexus necks, KEEP THE 2000MK1's, The nexus decks are a mess right now and cannot be used out live on gigs

BriChi,

Good advise indeed, the CDJ2000 NEXUS are not ready for live events.

They feel more like BETA-TEST units, and YES! we are the BETA TESTERS!
Funny how we get to pay over $2000.00 USD for DECKS that are still being developed, shouldn't we be the ones getting paid for all of the HONEST valuable BETA-TEST feedback that we've been providing?

Stick to the 1st Gen. CDJ2000s, otherwise you are bound for an inevitable disaster at your expense like most of us have during live sets when using CDJ2000 Nexus decks.

I must say that I would've never, ever, ever, ever expected such dissappointment from a PIONEER DJ product.

Pioneer Support,
Any tentative release dates for the CDJ2000 Nexus firmware update?
This is our bread and butter and we are starving!!!

Hey guys,

Got my two nexus players two days ago but did not have much time to test them untill yesterday..

I was shocked and thinking there was a hardware fault with the player(s) but when I read the forums I see I am not the only one (does some of you guys get that deja vu feeling? Hint: MK1)

Let's hope for everyone on the forum here they are working on a major fix and that it is fixable with firmware.

Pioneer, please don't take another two+ years to make this player perform like it should in the first place.

And just to be on topic:

I have a some freezing issues with Rekordbox Link and USB/SD

Also rekordbox seems to crash quite often, I already tried to make my DJ database a lot smaller and I would advise anyone to backup their music if they  can. (just to be sure)

I also notice strange issues regarding the use of sync (while followed all steps required) , Hot cue triggering (sometimes lagging or hanging?) and I also had a strange event when the player could not read the usb it did not go into a emergency loop but instead it gave me an error (this only happened once so far)

some very valuable advise, I think I am going to wait until the firmware release and see how that goes before Im purchase mine. Sadly though I have just sold my 1000 MK3's and am deckless atm... :(

One quick question though, does this freezing issue that so many seem to be having, occur when using an SD card? (apologies if this has already been asked and I have just missed it)

@Steve I've never had a freeze or any other issue with my CDJ-2000NXS players. I've been playing from both SD card and rekordbox on my MacBook Pro, everything is connected via Pro DJ Link and digital coax to my DJM-2000.

I think the CDJ-2000 Nexus is an amazing player.

I'm only using AIFF files and my collection is small (around 400 tracks).

Oakstream could you try out a usb stick or hdd? When you using sd cards is the option to autoload the hotcues enabled?

Yes, I am! :) I don't know why, but it could be that I'm only using AIFF files?, have a small collection?, the switch in the DJM-2000 works better than a standalone switch?

I guess I am lucked out...only issue I had was my laptop wasn't allowing me to drop songs in.  And I 'e already used them for a small charity for about 3 hours with no problem using sd cards and flash drives.

Tonight and tomorrow I got 4+ gigs so I will be testing it hardcore with my usb hard drive along with some sd card and a usb flash drive.

What I cant wait is, I will be sharing my setup with two dudes that use serato (they use the wave form to beatmatch) so it will be fun to see if they can use their ears or who knows, they might hit the sync button.  One I think will be okay, the other one I dunno lol

But I wish you guys the best on figuring out your issues..maybe I might be about to help or w/e to solve your issues.

OK, I sent my wife to the stable and our horses so I could test and mix from the USB stick instead… :)

I've really tried to get my Nexus player to freeze or crash but It hasn't happened.

I inserted the USB stick in one NXS and the other NXS is connected via Pro DJ Link to the same USB stick. You can see my setup in the attached picture.

I've been playing from SD, USB and rekordbox on my MacBook Pro and LaCie d2 Quadra HDD.

All tracks has auto loading hot cues, I've been adding hot cues on the fly, jumping between the hot cues, looping, syncing (the sync is spot on, no delays!), using Slip mode, but still it just works as it's supposed to do!

Before I used my tracks with CDJ-2000NXS I did a complete re-analyze of my collection in rekordbox, not just analyze for missing data. I also adjusted the beatgrids on every track.

I've purchased all my tracks from Beatport, mostly AIFF's but also some WAV's which I've converted to AIFF in iTunes before importing them to rekordbox.

I'm importing all my tracks to rekordbox via iTunes Bridge.

I'm using the following SD, USB and HDD.

  • SanDisk Extreme® SDHC™ UHS-I Cards 4GB Item # SDSDRX3-4096
  • CORSAIR Flash Voyager 4GB Flash Drive (USB2.0 Portable) Model CMFUSB2.0-4GB
  • LaCie d2 Quadra 2TB connected via FireWire 800 to my MacBook Pro (Note! Power switch is set to ON, not Auto on the back of the HDD!).

Computer:

MacBook Pro 13" 2.3 GHz Intel Core i5 8GB 120GB SSD

OS X Mountain Lion 10.8.2

rekordbox 2.0.1

I have unchecked Internet Sharing

When sharing of the computer’s Internet connection is enabled, problems may arise in communications with other computers or DJ units connected on the LAN. Disable sharing of the computer’s Internet connection before connecting the computer to the LAN.

The computer’s Internet connection sharing is deactivated as described below.

Mac OS X: Open [System Preferences], then at [Internet & Network], uncheck [Internet Sharing] under [Sharing].

Windows: Open [Local Area Connection Properties], then at [Sharing], uncheck [Allow other network users to connect through this computer’s Internet connection] under [Internet Connection Sharing].

All power saving functions is turned off!

My CDJ-2000NXS Settings:

Play Mode = Continue

Eject/Load Lock = Unlock

Auto Cue Level = Memory

Slip Flashing = On

On Air Display = On

Jog Brightness = 1

Jog Indicator = On

Disc Slot Illumination = 1

Language = English

Library Creator = Library

History Name = History

Player No. = Auto

Link Status = Connected Duh! :)

MIDI Channel = 1

Digital Out = 16 Bit

Auto Standby = On

LCD Brightness = 1

Screen Saver = On

Duplication = Default

Version No. = 1.02

I hope this info can be useful...

from all the test I have did, MOST of the bugs are mp3 related, I was able to reproduce one with AIFF and MP3 where if I bounce between loops and hot starts there is a delay at times, all other bugs point to mp3 files.

@Gavin > very excited about what's coming on Monday. Bought my nexus this week, and also has lots of problems ... The way Nexus is now is not to be trusted&and safe to use out i think. Hope you have read everything that has been here, and other forums. So now everything gets fixed up in. We all like Pioneer very well, but this time I think it was sad that there was so much that was wrong. Fingers crossed that on monday, everything will be updatet! And that the freezing & hanging, ++++ will now end!
