XDJ RX FREEZE....THE NEVERENDING STORY...

Hi,

i am very disappointed about this new consolle , i've bought 1 month ago for my club and i will not buy  a pioneer deck consolle again...

i advise the costumer to not buy the xdj rx because pioneer release a consolle that is not ready for the consumer and professional market.

Think that in our club we have a cdj 400 linked to the P.a. because every night the XDJ RX FREEZE....

Think that we have bought this consolle for 1400 euros for what? To have a consolle that freeze every Fxxx night with boo people dancing "about 1000 persons..." 

In my opinion all the Xdj Rx customers  have to do a legal letter to Pionner to solve those problems or to have a cash back!

My question is when you will fix all those problems? I'm sure that Pioneer know that there are several djs , clubs , amateurs that have the same problem like mine.

And the funny thing is that i've bought that "tic tac toe" consolle for leaving a Djm800....

Best Regards....and the next time ask Traktor how to do a DECK CONSOLLE.....

Hi! You have to tell more about your problem. There is no point to blame anyone until you find the source of your promlems.

I have never experinced XDJ Rx to Freeze. 

-First of all you should check your USB storage. 

-Please note that XDJ not perfect with VBR tracks yet.

- it wont play 32-bit .wav files.

Sorry to hear about the problems @Black Out, but if you want help, we can help, but need more details. If you want to complain and have already returned your RX, please let me know so I can close this thread.

You wrong dear Mr Berta because because i'm not the only person that have problems with this consolle and it is not right that Pioneer sell deck consolle that are failed from the beginning..in my country we call it "truffa"="fraud" in your? and don't tell me the about " ohhh it's a new consolle it's normal" same "xxxx" that i have read in other post...it's not that case...Mr Berta....i call the Italian Pionner Customer Service and guess what they told me?..." oh Yes we know about the problems on Xdj Rx we are investigating do an update on the newest firmware for now" .......ok in the meanwhile ? What should i have to do we have 8 djs in 3 different night. For your opinion what do i have to tell them ? as you said to check the usb storage of their pen? to not play vb. tracks? to not play wav files? and that is the correct way to work for you? For you i have to call and organize the life after the club of 8 persons telling them " hey man check the list because we have the newest consolle that maybe freeze....please leave your comments to a newly....think that outside a forum there is real life where djs , club , amateur use a consolle to work properly not to check all the devices every time that he has to work in my club….

Here there are my problems….

freeze with record box song.

freeze with normal mp3 files

freeze when scrolling tracks

freeze “also” when is linked to a mac with the ethernet cable

freeze when you pull off the pen in deck A and also in deck B

Remember that i bought a deck consolle thinking that i bought a product that work from the beginning not a consolle to update every week , not a consolle that freeze every night , not a consolle that when you are working in front of people you should cross the hands and praying to god not to freeze…

Remember that there are lot of people like me that spent 1400 for a tic tac toe consolle…

And Pionner where is? they are investigating ? 

I would like to investigate on pioneer on the commercial plan project of this plastic stuff the call deck consolle…

I see your points but please note, that I have NEVER experinced XDJ RX to Freeze. I mixed 4 hours yesterday and no probs at all. You should return your xdj to your local dealer, becuase it should work.

I have used my XDJ-RX for about 14-16 hours total (one 6-hour gig) and played around with it at home and I have not had it freeze up one time. So, if this is a "common" issue, it hasn't affected me yet. I'm LOVIN' this unit! :)

Before I buy my XDJ RX i worked with Stanton SCS4DJ they had a similar problem, their device just crashed randomly. Freeze every time without any reason. After investigation it became clear that the software freezes because of differences in power. All devices in Europe frеeze, In USA  everything was ok. Then they made some changes in the software andall fine. I suppose that this could be the cause of this problem. I'll be glad when this information help to solve. Here in Bulgaria the standart is 220 v and the Units work fine for me. Dont have any crashes. I'll be glad Pioneer to find the cause of your problem soon. Sorry for my bad anglish.

no no you don't..

CIT : I used my new XDJ-RX at my first Wedding of the "season" and for the most part, it worked beautifully. I love this thing. I did have something very bizarre happen though. A few tracks I tried to load, wouldn't. I got a message (something about the song needing to be analyzed by RekordBox) then the songs would be grayed out and I couldn't use them.

e ora ve lo scrivo anche in Italiano così magari qualche collega capisce cosa mi sta succedendo...

Compro la nuovissima e acclamata Xdj Rx....

1500 euro mi dico ok finalmente ho preso qualcosa di più che possa ben sostituire il mio vecchio impianto un djm 800 con 2 cdi 900

Prima serata...la consolle muore , chiamo i Pionieri...mi dicono fai l'update alla 1.40....

Seconda serata ....stessa sorte.....muore ...freeza....noi costretti a non usare le penne ma i cdi 900 linkati ad essa....e già il dubbio sorge....che cavolo mi sono comprato a fare un deck....se poi posso usarlo solo con i 900 a sto punto mi prendevo un mixer e via...

Terza serata stessa sorte.....e li i dubbi manco ve lo dico a fare...

Mi faccio un giro su sto forum chi ti trovo....personaggi che ti chiedono di analizzare i brani....che ti dicono no no la consolle va bene...e poi trovi altre segnalazioni in merito...ovviamente pagati dall'azienda...che devono fare loro poveri se nn dirti Noo guarda è solo un tuo problema....

La storia non finisce ma inizia con ovviamente nel mandare la consolle in riparazione che poi non ci credo che la ripareranno .....al massimo la sostituiranno....dicendomi chissà quale bufala e non ammettendo che questo prodotto è uscito male....

Ovviamente nel frattempo sarò costretto nell'affitto di un mixer...perchè il nostro splendido prodotto se ne viaggia chissà dove e nelle mani di chissà chi....

Stiamo seriamente pensando di scrivere alla pioneer ......chi vuol capire ...capisca....

Black Out Rock Club: I did not experience any FREEZING. My issue was minor and I haven't been able to get it to do it again. It could be a flaky USB stick. At any rate, yes I do love this unit. You seem to be a very negative & bitter person. If you don't like yours, return it and quit your bitching.

There is nothing fraudulent about what Pioneer is providing with this product.

I understand that you are having problems and are upset. Others are simply posting their experiences with the unit, expressing that it's not necessarily the RX which is at fault. There is no need to disregard what they are saying, just as they should not discount the fact you are having problems.

Clearly you and the many DJs who use the RX are having many different issues with this unit. Based on my experience and your comments, I would suggest that perhaps this hardware is not the ideal solution for the needs of your venue. Perhaps a pair of CDJs and a DJM would better suit your requirements. Not only have they been on the market for some time and many of their "initial release" concerns have been resolved, but they would also offer the ability to be modularly replaced should one component fail or be damaged.

I received a message that will be published my post after being reviewed by the administrator. "the reason is that there are many redundant speeches"or something. What I wanted to share with everyone in this forum before i buy my XDJ RX, I worked with Stanton SCS4 DJ. They had the same problem constantly and randomly freezing system.All devices in Europe, freezing randomly. After a detailed study proved that this is probem of different power supplies.Then they corrected and software problem was resolved.I think that this may be the cause of this problem. or at least a little help to solve it. Sorry for my bad anglish ;)

@DJ ROSSKO > Zendesk has an anti-spam filter, but typically we don't get notified of those messages because 99.99% of them are actual spam! I'll take a look in the queue to see if anything's there.

Regarding the power supplies, I've certainly seen where "dirty power" or other fluctuations have caused issues with CDJs, so that can certainly be part of the problem if the failures are intermittent based on location.

I had freezes with firmware 1.0 using non-recordbox USB media but these are long gone. But it seems that the RX is still quite sensitive in using the right media or format. This you should know before buying the unit. But it shouldn't influence your buying intention too...

black out sono italiano anche io, uno dei primi ad aver messo le mani sulla xdj rx, primo batch da wimpy music a milano, e non lavoro per pioneer, da quando ho la rx non ho mai avuto un problema uno. assicurati di usare chiavette usb di qualità e tracce anche loro di qualità. poi puoi anche starci che ci ti sia capitata un'unità fallita, a me è successo con la rmx 500.. che ci puoi fare? sfiga.

I am considering buying this product, and am reading forum for known problems and overall customer satisfaction. As i am computer guy myself, i can easily understand problems with freezing and such.

I do have two things to point out here:

  1. To Italian guy: RX, at least in my opinion, is not intended for club use primarily (not saying you should not use it). If you want a product that will work with any known and unknown DJ and USB drive out there, buy a high end product that is intended for club use. USB problems are probably much less evident there. I suppose, if you use this device for your own pleasure, at home, and take it to some gig now and then, you will probably need one single USB drive - which is not hard to figure out what works and what not. After that, no problems probably.

  2. On the other hand, Pioneer, should investigate this further, as this is a CRUICAL part of the unit - it is "a stand alone" mixer, so i suppose it should also play from whatever flash source with whatever file we throw at it. Of course it is a hard work to do that, but hey, 1500€ is not a cheap price, so it should not act cheaply. One of the things I really like about this devise and am considering buying it is this fact - that we don't need to use computer for it to work. I never trusted controllers controlling software on a PC/MAC. So many factors that can make something go wrong. Specially Windows :)

I hope future firmware releases fix this USB problems at least to some degree, if it is SW related. If it is HW related there is probably not much you can do.
Can you imagine buying a 1500€ notebook, where only certain kinds of USB flash drives work? I don't :)

And one more thing, with which I do have a problem.
I understand a rekordbox/device ecosystem Pioneer is trying to push, but limiting us to only use rekordbox is not really consumer friendly.
I would like to see to throw any mp3, processed by rekordbox or not, to RX, and play it just normally.

I understand the drawback (no waveform, slipping, syncing etc...), but hey, if i can manage vinyl, i think i will manage this, too. But not being able to play or the device freeze at such cases, is just a no no.

Maybe this is already fixed. Sorry if it is.

For me playing it at home and record mixxes to stream onto the internet  my RX is an expensive, but great machine !

If i had a club, with 1000 plp on the dancefloor. I wound't make a cheep investment by buying an RX. I would do the math and invest into the top-range nexus series players and mixers.  (and give my kid an RX just to play with.)

This problem is not about an freezing up RX, but about an club owner who doesn't want to invest to give his audience the best there is.

Pioneer makes the best DJ product and they give me Always the best support possible.
