XDJ-RX - wishlist 'Quantized Beat Jump' (firmwear 1.7)

Using the shift-button plus SEARCH-buttons "Quantized Beat Jump/Loop Move" could easily be implemented in the current hardware-Setup:

With Quantized Beat Jump/Loop Move, one could jump backwards or forwards 4 beats from the current playback Position by pressing SHIFT+Search forward/Search backward

Sorry, due to available memory and processing, beat jump is not available on the XDJ-RX.

@dsl89 > What you're pointing out is the rekordbox dj control method - this is done within the software and not on the XDJ-RX itself.

grrr I really really want this now!!! I remember back when i used to use Traktor I used to be able to click on the wave form with the mouse at any point and it would always land perfectly on beat! it came in handy so many times! but even a simple forward & backward buttons that land on beat would be great! just like you said SHIFT+Search forward/Search backward would be perfect!!

just found this topic.

i also switched from traktor to pioneer and this is the ONLY essential feature that i really miss: QUANTIZED BEAT JUMP by 2-4-8-16 beats

is it still not possible?

like here it says on the "search" button there is a 8 beat jump function, but i think it's only for rekordbox unfortunately: https://rekordbox.com/assets/diagram/en/XDJ-RX_Hardware_Diagram.pdf

it is possible to bring this feature on the xdj-rx firmware, so that it can be used for playing via (rekordbox prepared) USB stick?

@Pulse: "due to available memory"???

Memory doesn't cost anything in 2016.

So why do you cut the production costs of the RX this way and then have this kind of limitation in a very very fundamental DJ-ing feature?

Sorry, I don't understand Pioneer's philosophy...

That's a good question. Also, in my opinion beat jump is a much more fundamental feature than sth. like "loop slice" so i don't understand why there is enough memory for that but not for beat jump.

but ok, we're not the pioneer engineers and we bought it like it is (without beat jump) and pioneer made clear now that they are not going to implement it.

so we have to spend more money for either rekordbox dj or another (more expensive) controller if we want beat jump...

@Volker > Everything costs something, even in 2016. And in order to create a product that met certain price points, even the amount of available memory had to be considered. It's not a limitation - the product was not designed with ever-changing-functionality in mind. Economics 101 tells you that you can't make money selling a product that lasts forever. (Sadly this is true, but even I wish it weren't.)

@dsl89 > Sorry, that's just the way it goes. This product was developed without beat jump, based on expectation of use for the target market segment, and unfortunately it won't be implemented at a later time either. While it would be nice to have all the updates we ever want in a product, that's not always possible.
