DJM 900 NXS 2 NO REKORDBOX DJ AND DVS LICENCE!!

When Pioneer respond to a post why do they always close it?

Plenty of people have commented about the lack of licence keys for Rekordbox DJ and DVS for the 900 NXS2 especially when it's there flagship mixer. The latest response from Pioner is a s follows:-

"The CDJ / DJM setup (eg. the Nexus2 system) is primarily designed and marketed as a stand-alone DJ solution. In this scenario, rekordbox is used to organize and prepare your music, as well as optionally link to the players over ethernet. While they have the capability, the objective is not for this system to be used primarily as a controller for rekordbox DJ; we have several other dedicated solutions in that category. The DJM-450 and DJM-900NXS2 are targeted at two very different market segments and as such, the decision has been made to include a rekordbox DJ license for this entry-level product.

Thanks for your feedback."

If the Nexus2 system is designed as a standalone system why do they have two inputs for laptops? Surely you would use the SD card or memory stick?

I appreciate that the Nexus2 system is not designed as a primary controller for Rekordbox DJ but you need have the software to connect to DVS. This is marketed as a club mixer so you would expect it to be flexible enough to cope.

It's kind of ironic that on Friday on the Pioneer DJ Facebook page they put the pic below saying coming soon.

For those people that aren't in the know this is rival software, Traktor and the pic suggest that they will be implementing HID control as they did with the old 900 Nexus. This demonstrates that it's not designed as standalone mixer!

Pioneer DJ clearly don't understand there market. Giving serious DJ's access to Rekordbox DJ will also increase sales of the 900 Nexus 2 and products like the DDJ-SP1 that offer greater implementation of the software.

Come on Pioneer DJ admit you are wrong and give us serious DJ's the tool's to take their sets to the next level and not permantly feel like we are being ripped off!

The answer and reasoning was given in the quote in the original post; I'm sorry, but if you have purchased equipment that did not ship with a license for rekordobx DJ, you can purchase one at rekordbox.com.

It's a standalone system in that, when using it exclusively with CDJ/XDJ system with rekordbox analyzed tracks, no laptop is required–only an external hdd, flash drive, etc. containing the analyzed tracks. A user can also directly connect an SP1 via USB to a CDJ2000-NXS2 (or MK2 XDJ-1000) and use it for hot cues and such–no computer required here either.

For users who want to use the DJM900NXS2 as an audio interface, say for using Ableton in conjunction with Rekordbox, the USB input on the mixer allows the unit to connect to the laptop. Obviously, using the mixer like this would no longer technically make it a standalone system since a computer has been added to the performance setup. However, the option is there for DJ's who like to include Ableton with their sets. As to why there are two USB inputs: easier/seamless transitions for multiple DJ's who wish to include a laptop or Rekordbox DJ/DVS.

To say "Pioneer DJ clearly don't understand there (should be their) market" is false. CDJ decks/mixers are stocked by default at nearly every venue hosting top shelf DJs. The DJM900NXS/CDJNXS2 series is high-end gear with a high price tag. That said, Pioneer also offer several types of controllers (controller meaning they require a laptop/CPU to run, i.e. not standalone players) that very in terms of functionality and options at various prices–targeting everyone from beginners to controller fanatics. And they also lowerThat sounds to me like they know exactly the type of market they're after.

HID support on the CDJ-NXS2 should be viewed as a bonus feature and I'm sure Traktor support will follow suit soon since there's a market of DJ's who prefer Traktor/Serato/etc. With regards to personal use, it would be silly to drop several thousand dollars for a set of CDJ-NXS2 players to simply use them as controllers in HID when there are many other options in addition to options for standalone players as well.

Are controllers for being used only with a laptop? they comes with dvs pack for free... maybe  is for use them with turntables??

In how many clubs do you have seen a nxs mixer being used with turntables and/or timecode vinyls? never?

What mixer was Pioneer showing at Namm with 2 turntables and a laptop with Rekordbox Dvs??

What did Pioneer said in his web when they launch the nxs2 mixer?

Mmmmm

The djm450  & now djm250 mk2 is out and includes Rekordbox dj dvs for less than $400 it's starting to feel absurd that people that payed around $2,000 for the djm900nxs2 don't get Rekordbox dj included.

I understand if it may be a case that Rekordbox dj isn't quite ready for pro level use yet (?) but it does sting after investing so much cash in your top of the line mixer to be nickel and dimed on Rekordbox dj.   I don't think anyone here is being crazy in thinking that including Rekordbox dj with your $2,000 mixer would be a fair move.

Pioneer thinks that if you have money to buy a djm900nx2 you will have more money to buy a Rekordbox license. They want more a more money from you!! THATS ALL!!!... Pioneer's policy... A shame.

Use Rekordbox to organize and analyze your music. And for dvs go better for Serato or Traktor.

I own the NXS2 system, and I own Rekordbox DJ - and I've never seen any reason to use RDJ with the system. What would it add? To use the NXS2 system as controllers? Makes no sense to me..

Some people wants to use dvs. Before Traktor and Serato were compatibles with djm900nxs2 Rekorbox was the only option. But finally people can use dvs with Traktor or Serato and the djm900nxs2.

Rekordbox is good to analyze tracks for use with cdj's. For dvs we have Serato and Traktor. After buy a djm900nxs2, after claim about a free Rekordbox with the mixer, after the absurb and evasive answers from Pioneer and see that Rekordbox comes for free with controllers and sheapers mixers... I love to spend my money in Traktor and Serato.

Yeah, My use is for dvs with turntables.  So I want to get the most out of using the mixer as a soundcard.

I've been on Serato since SSL but Serato DJ is starting to get a little buggy for me as of late. Even if I pay for Serato's "club kit" license to use it with my djm-900 nexus-2 I don't get the Beat FX bpm "quantize" function (that syncs Serato's bpm/beat-grid with the mixers Beat FX) like I would with RBDJ, which would really help with the slow bpm analysis onboard the 900nxs2.  With Serato I also don't get post fader FX on the software FX (I'm assuming I would with RBDJ?!)

So I feel like I've shelled out enough cash to Pioneer for this mixer (especially in light of the new much, much, much, much, cheaper mixers that come with RBDJ) to have the option of using RBDJ with the 900nxs2 without being charged for it on top of the exorbitant price of the 900nxs2.
