That won't work -- you need something like this to act as a USB host to receive the MIDI signal and send it out to the TR8.
I am trying to sync my DJM 900 NXS2 with a Roland TR8 (or any of my hardware) but can't work out how. I only want to send the BPM info.
I bought a USB B to USB A adapter and then used my midi interface cable (Roland UM-One mk 2) to connect from the USB terminal on the DJM, into the rear midi port of the TR8 but nothing happened.
It seemed the logical way to do it but obviously not the correct one. Can anyone please assist in letting me know how I can connect my TR8, or any midi external hardware, with this mixer.
Cheers,
Rob

Hello Pulse,
Nice to read that it works on the NX2 to control an external instrument via MIDI. But before I buy a MIDI USB converter, I need to know in which socket I connect the USB to get a BPM signal? On top in one of the two USB B sockets or in the USB A socket on the SEND/Return? There are different converters with USB A socket and some with USB A plug available. The ones with the A connector are the cheapest, but could only be connected into the connector on the send/return.
Hi Pioneer
I got myself a USB MIDI HOST, connected it to my DJM900NXS2 and TR8:
the (A or B) USB port on the mixer keeps blincking...
(MIDI signal passes but not steady, keeps increasing)
Any solution for that?
USB ports only work with computer?
Thanks in advance for your answer.
regards, Fred
