DJM 900 NXS2 MIXER INPUT USB9/10 - where does it go?

When I am connected to a DJM 900 NXS2 there are 10 USB inputs shown in the setting utility.

In Ableton (for example) I can see all of these 10 routings. When I route to any routing from 1-8 the sound routes to the relevant mixer channel as expected.

When I route to USB9/10 I cannot find where this routes through the mixer. Where does it go?

My goal is to send signal down this routing and NOT play it through one of the mixer channels, just merge it into the master channel. The routing in the setting utility says MASTER so I assumed this was the case... just no signal.

If you look at the screenshot with rekordbox running:

...and compare it to when rekordbox is not running:

...you'll notice the FX SEND is no longer available. This is because the FX SEND (USB11/12) and FX RETURN (USB9/10) is only used by rekordbox and is not available for other applications.

Thank you for your understanding.

Hi Daniel

I’m just adding to your post as this is something I’ve been trying to figure out now for ages! I’ve sent a support ticket through today as well.

As you mentioned it appears to be available as an Output from software and is even visible in their settings utility with the expected routing, however I’ve got a sinking feeling it’s not going to be available for some weird reason.

I think the advice will be to bring the audio back through one of the channels however if you do that you’re no long able to use that channel for midi control.

Let’s see what they say...

Hi David, great I’m glad I’m not alone. I agree that I do not want to use one of the 4 mixer channels for the output. That is why I’m really interested that the label says MASTER.

Looking forward to anyone who has more insight than us to share…

Hi David - any response from your support ticket?

Anyone from pioneer able to comment on this pretty straightforward question?

Thanks Pulse,

I understand that the channel is only available for Rekordbox now.

It’s worth noting that on my Mac the channel shows as available without Rekordbox running at all.

I hope Pioneer considers opening this channel up for all audio apps as it’s a very useful addition to maximise flexibility is using the DJM with hardware and soffware.

Cheers,
Dan
