DJM900 Nexus Noise when recording

I just bought a new macbookpro retina, while trying to record with traktor, re routing the signal through the pioneer app, the signal either drops out, introduces severe noise or either sort of works but the signal sounds very metallic and with pops and crackles. This is only the recording signal, the master signal sounds OK. I am trying to record using other types of signals i.e. 2 cdjs into nexus mixer and recording to audacity and I get no signal.

Is this a driver issue ? a mac issue?

Please help

If you mean recording into the iOS DJM-REC app, then we're aware of an issue with iOS13 which is currently being fixed, with an update to come soon.

As for recording into your computer, you may have missed the step where you need to authorize the drivers through your security settings in the macOS. You may need to install the drivers again in order to receive that prompt.

I mean recording through the computer, using audacity, or traktor's native recording.

When I first installed the drivers I did get the warning, and I authorized it. I just tried uninstalling the divers, restarting, and then reinstalling again and I did not get the warning again, is this because I had previously authorized it?

I am attaching a screenshot of a recording. it's just super loud noise and static.

Also, the sound from the master output is perfect, it's just when I re route the rec out though the app and try recording it with my computer.

My friend is here with a very similar laptop and we tried recording on his with the same software, and my mixer, and it works perfect on his, so the hardware is ok.

You can verify if it's blocked or not by going to the System Information app, and scrolling down to Software > Disabled Software. If anything is listed on the right, it's blocked, otherwise you're good.

The only other things you may want to check are that you've allowed the app access to the recording (through System Preferences > Security & Privacy > Privacy):

And that you have a source selected for the audio channels you've set as your source within the software (whether it's Audacity or Traktor, you choose the input channels, so here, I've set the 9/10 pair as my REC OUT destination, so I'd select 9/10 as the source within Audacity):

It's not blocked and both traktor and audacity have access to the microphone. My model is the Nexus not Nexus 2 so I have rec out on usb 7-8. There are three things that happen while recording, they are random:

- No sound

- Or just Noise

- Or the master out but with cracks, pops and a metallic sound, then jumps into full noise and then silence.

That's okay, they work pretty much the same way - the nice thing about the NXS2 with the additional output channels is it can be assigned in such a way as to avoid overlapping any other input. You can use 7/8 no problem.

It could well be that you have the buffer value too low for your computer; if the audio underruns the buffer, it would crackle or pop as it tries to keep up, and if it gets too low, it could drop out completely.

As for the noise, it may be a grounding issue between your mixer and computer (try different electrical circuits, or even a USB cable with a ferrite core).

I have tried recording the Traktor output and had no luck. I messed with the buffer values to see if it was that and it wasn't. When trying to record via Traktor, even before starting to record, there should be some signal in the UV levels of the recorder, sometimes it's just the noise and it maxes out the levels obviously, sometimes it's silence, and sometimes music with noise and crackles.

So then I tried recording regular outputs from a USB stick on the CDJ's. Still, no luck. Same thing happens.

The computer is hooked up to the Nexus mixer using USB C Chroma Cables so the cables are good quality.

My friend has the same laptop as me just 13 inch instead of 15 and it works fine on his, same cables, same mixer, etc.

I'm going crazy :(

yah, I have a similar issue now. Recording into ableton, and for a period of time everything is smooth. But then something, somewhere, breaks and all I record is loud white noise. Here's a screenshot of what I mean.
