DJM-2000 Nexus, how to send MIDI events for faders and knobs?

The manual lists several pages of delightful MIDI events that are supposed to be sent when adjusting the physical controls on my DSM-2000 Nexus, but I can’t for the life of me figure out how to get that to happen. I have MIDI Monitor running, and displaying events from the mixer, and I can see MIDI clock streaming, and I can see MIDI events when I touch the virtual faders and buttons on the MIDI layers of the touch screen, but nothing is ever sent when I slide the physical faders, turn knobs, or press buttons. I’ve seen videos of people MIDI mapping these kinds of things, what am I missing about how to turn on the event stream?

Thanks in advance if you can give me a series of steps to enable this on my own mixer!

Yes, that is what I was looking at. It does not make any sense compared to what I see on the mixer. What and where is the “[START/STOP] button for [MIDI]”?

Press the SYNC MASTER / MIDI button and it will toggle between the sync screen and the MIDI screen.

Thanks again, but as I stated in my original comment, I am able to bring up the MIDI screen. And when that is visible, it does send MIDI messages when I touch the virtual buttons and faders on the touch screen. But how do I cause MIDI messages to be sent when I move physical faders and knobs? That never happens in my testing.

Did you turn the MIDI function ON? Without that, it may not transmit data from the faders. What if you press and hold the START/STOP button for 2 seconds, is a full snapshot of all the hardware controls sent?

I am trying to understand how to turn the MIDI function on. I cannot find any START/STOP button. Where is it located? Can you point me at a photo?

Oh! I just found it on page 12. It is nowhere near the section I was looking last night. I will try it when I get home again.

Sorry, I don't have a library of photos of the DJM's different screens... if you press the SYNC MASTER / MIDI button twice, it should show you the MIDI panel, where the ON/OFF button is shown.

It turns out that on my mixer it is all the way on the right edge, far from the center touch screen where the other MIDI functions are, which is why I was unable to find it last night. I have no doubt that now that I know where the button is, I will be able to get things working when I am back at the mixer. Thanks!

And indeed, now that I found the right buttons, the MIDI streams are being sent. This is a truly impressive amount of MIDI communication support!
