Rekordbox 6

Hello, rightly or wrongly i have updated my rekordbox to ver. 6 At first it updated the software and transfered all my tracks to ver 6. I thought i was done after 12 hours of waiting. That was just the tip of the iceberg. You have a lot of issues to resolve. After the 12 hours i was getting the message that the wave forms where an old version. Could youplease ensure that it does the wave forms on the first wait of moving the tracks over. I decided to delete all the tracks since they had to be analyzed again. This time it has doubled my Collection and i'm now into 24 hours of waiting for the software to analyze all the tracks. It has been nothing other than a complete nightmare. Someone needs the sack for writing this version. It's crap. Maybe i should have waited before doing an update so quick after release as i now have my collection twice.

It is bad from what I've experienced.... I had launched it and nothing happened just sitting there saying preparing with absolutely no indicator or anything. The software didn't even launch. After nearly 48 Hours, I forced closed it and now at least the software launched, however no indication of the progress of how far along it is.

This release is the worst I've seen from any of the platforms I use. The length of time to convert the DB is unacceptable (longest out of any competitors upgrade process I've experienced) and ever since the upgrade the new version is sluggish at best during initial launch (post upgrade DAY) and almost unusable. MY CDJ2000's NXS stall on WAITING when using Rekordbox link and loading a track and this whole cloud integration is nonsense and a feature that I would not rely heavily on, if ever. What kind of a mess did you guys create?!?!?! Instead of driving innovation like you've done in the past, you've release products without proper R&D (ahem RB-DMX1, DDJ-SX3 and now RB6 to name a few) and you're turning loyal fans over to your competition. Like many other DJ's on this forum, I've invested TENS of thousands on your products... and that's no exaggeration. I think that is officially over. I've already invested in the competition and I can tell you they have up  the ante on you and you've done nothing but milk your fans for mediocre updates on hardware and now SOFTWARE!

Sadly this isn’t Pioneer DJ, it’s AlphaTheta Corp.

So to add to my frustration... the additional needed analysis for 3 band waveforms are another extensive process (albeit a shorter analysis per track than a full analysis), but now, MY DDJ-SX2 will not work in performance mode!

My FRUSTRATION LEVEL IS AT AN ALL TIME HIGH!

Here is how I did it on a Windows PC. I first was not migrating my library and started with a blank one. Second I did all preferences setup I wanted to do like disabling the lyrics download as this would make the analysing for the 3 band waveform even longer. Third I was moving the DB to a different drive compared to the rekordbox 5 DB.

When having both on the same machine the rekordbox 6 DB is created at the same place as the rekordbox 5 DB is. It somehow shares certain files. When moving the DB to a different drive other to rekordbox 5 I was feeling more comfortable...

Once that was done I did the 'import library' from the menu. The conversion took long but went through without a problem (22500 tracks). Adding the additional waveform data took long as well - I did that in stages (5000 tracks at a time).

Maybe that helps others.

@Frank That's great you found a workaround, but do you think that you (or the average user) should be going through such a lengthy process to even upgrade?!??!?! The developers should of come up with a better solution than what is currently offered. As an IT professional, I can upgrade a SQL DB in less time it took to upgrade to RB6.

I agree - with you. Just shared my experience and how I had success in the migration.
I haven't said it is a recommended way. Definitely if should work just straight forward.

@Frank Kusod to you... at least you found a work around.

As far as my gripe with my DDJ-SX2, well, it turns out that only official Rekordbox controllers/mixers will work out the box. All others require the core subscription at a minimum. Talk about bad timing by Pioneer to ask DJ's to pay for anything extra when globally, no working DJ has a gig now. They should of postponed the release and done more testing to resolve the migration process. Pioneer is done digging into my pockets.
