My rig specs:
2018 MBP. 2.7 Ghz i7. 16 gig RAM. DJM Nexus 900 with control vinyl and Serato. Running latest OS. When the Nexus is connected via cabling to my laptop the audio and wave form will randomly freeze for a couple seconds, then continue playing. I've got the driver 4.0 for Nexus installed. When this happens, the USB light on the nexus goes off too, almost like there is a connectivity issue briefly.

The problem is probably the 4.0 drivers - please file an inquiry ticket here and our support team will gather some additional information to assist you in resolving this issue.
