DJM-S11 Standalone Mode connected to Pioneer CDJ 2000 / 3000

Thinking of getting an S11. I am aware Serato is probably best served by it currently but my plan would be to use in standalone mode a fair bit and I want to understand what features on the mixer will work in standalone mode Is any one able to provide a bit of an overview?

In particular I am wondering if :

1. The pads can be used for triggering Hot Cues when a laptop is not connected.

2. What else the pads can do in standalone mode.

Hey chief. The only thing that works in stanadlone mode is beatfx. The pads turn green and will trigger whatever BeatFX is selected. Each pads represents a different "beat time" for the effect. So like 1/2, 1/4, 1,2 etc I forget the exact layout but it's spread over the 8 pads for that channel. If you  want to use a CDJ with the mixer without using software, you may be better off getting a 900NXS

Hi mate, thanks for the reply. Wow it can really only do that in standalone mode! that's poor in my opinion. I have a 900NXS mixer already but it hasn't been updated for so long and it just doesn't do enough. I really would like to see more creativity being offered on mixers to those of us who want to play in standalone. A modified S11 with split cue, ethernet ports on and the ability to use much of the functionality on the pads without needing to plug in laptop must be doable. I won't hold my breath though. I don't really understand the strategy at Pioneer at the moment to be honest. New products being released (that in my view are not needed such as S5 - when there is already S7, S9 S11). I have seen a few posts on here from people wanting things sorted on S11 and it being mentioned they will come in a firmware update. That's a top line mixer costing £££ and it hasn't had a firmware update since 2020!

Exactly! On point! PDJ release an S5 with stupid scratch functions in it but dont listen to the customers which already purchased the expensive big ones like S11. No update since Nov 2020 and a lot of unhappy customers. What is wrong with PDJ? Why you dont listen to us?
