Pad Mode Selection Buttons Request

I think one could file this under feature request.

Currently if I have a performance pad pressed I can not change the pad mode (track, mute, slice, scale). I would like this changed if possible that way I can, say, be in track mode holding down a long sample whilst I navigate to mute to mute other pads. Essentially it would help tremendously with performance.

Thank you kindly.

Hi Orion,

If we change these rules, users may be confused with complexity and so many different Pad statuses. We need to consider the best way to implement this.

We would like to utilize your suggestion for our future product development.

Thank you.

Hi Orion,

That would be a good feature to have for live performance. Thank you for your feedback, I'll pass this onto our TORAIZ engineers.

Best regards,

Pioneer DJ Support

Good suggestion.

Additionally, it would be useful to have momentary states for the mode buttons, so you could, for example, hold mute, select some pads, release mute, then they all mute on release and you return back to whatever mode you were in...

Fire!

Selection Buttons

press - selects mode

press and hold - momentarily selects mode

double press - locks mode (to sequence)

lock mode could attach itself to the sequence so when playing an arrangement all the way thru the modes could switch automatically depending on what sequence you're on - hypothetically and wishfully.

Orión,

Get on the next plane to Japan and knock on Pioneer's door :)

The last suggestion is particularly nice.

Super sweet Stephen!

I obviously don't know the guts of the Toraiz but my first instinct it to have the leds in the mode buttons do all that talking/feedback. Doesn't seem like the mode buttons are RGB so with white how many different states could one program? On/Off/Blinking (and then variations of blinking? ; I now am seeing this complexity you speak of).

My suggestion would be as follows:

Press Mode Button - Selects Mode - Light On

Press and Hold Mode Button - Momentarily Selects Mode - Slow Light Blinking

Double Press (or shift + mode button) - Locks Mode to Sequence - Fast Light Blinking

If the track mode buttons are indeed rgd then this would be easier.

Then there is still the issue of trying to change modes while a track pad is being pressed. Seems like whatever is preventing us from playing multiple tracks simultaneously in  scale/slice mode needs to be redacted (i think you are already planning this but also I think it's a ram issue lol). I think I understand the concept of slice and scale modes on the toraiz where one sample has already been loaded to the ram for that track and there isn't any ram allocation for playing said sample in a layered manner.  Could be a code deal though and maybe not a ram issue. I remember my super old Ensoniq ASR-X-Pro being able to play chords of samples (tracks) without any issues and that thing is prepubescent compared to the toraiz.

I digress however, I'm having a blast with the toraiz, with every 'limitation' i find a workaround so I'm already thinking differently about compositions and performances. Knowing that pioneer is listening is the icing on the cake!

Thanks!
