Recording DJM 450 into Traktor

Hello!!!

I have recently purchased a 450 and i absolutely love it.

BUT

I am trying to find a way of recording out this mixer into my traktor through my 7/8 of my audio 8., I can only record out the master out, not ideal . The line out doesn't seem to want to work, i cant get a signal from the RCA line out.

At the min, i am running a feed out the  master 2, but if I change the master volume out the speakers,  it changes the volume of the recording. I would rather just set a level out the line out. But I can't get a signal!!!

anyone got any ideas?

Thanks,

JoeJohn

Hi,

Please, explain a bit your setup: you have connected the Audio 8 DJ to your Mac, and then you are routing two channels, let's say 1/2 and 3/4, to your mixer, is that the case? If so, why you don't use the DJM-450 connected directly to your Mac? Then you can route the channels from Traktor to channels 0/1 and 2/3 (post ch-1 and ch-2 fader), and the REC OUT on DJM you can route to inputs D or C (channel 4/5 on DJM).

I hope it helps.

Hi, thanks alot for your helpful post,

yeah i am running traktor timecode vinyl from my mac into an audio 8, putting my record feed into channels 7/8 in my interface.

the problem is that traktor cant see the DJM 450, i have the drivers installed and the little routing program comes up and shows it connected, i cant get anything from the AUX/Line/COMP out.

I will have a go at what you said later tonight after work.  thanks again man!!!

i people, i still cant get my line/aux out to work, it records via usb into rekord box no problem, traktor doesn't want to see it at all, could it be because i am running an earlier version of the program? i run 2.6.something.

I downloaded the demo of 2.11 and i still cant see it?

Traktor can use only one soundcard at a time. Until now, you can't use separeted soundcards for different purposes.

im using my DJM 250 mk2 with traktor pro and traktor vinyls without using any traktor interface :) ive found a loophole to make this work . the DJM 250mk2 has basically 2 channels for your turntable  channel (1/2 and 3/4) and an AUX for (5/6) and tried recording it and works just fine.

before i used to do it with my audio 8 dj. 1/2 & 3/4 inputs and outputs for my plx500s then 5/6 output is for my  remix decks to go to AUX/Line input in my DJM 250mk2 mixer so i can control the volume. then xlr output goes to my main speakers the line output will be for my 7/8 input for recording back to traktor.

the only down side in my audio 8 setup is the volume controls in the recording.. what goes out of the main output will be the recording. basically the audio output will not be constant. if you lower the main volumes, the recording will be low too. not unlike if you have a dedicated  "rec out" slot for monitoring the audio levels are in a constant level. and you just adjust the volume in your recording software.

hope this help :)

You cannot use a mixer that is not Traktor Scratch Certified as a timecode router in Traktor.

However, you can use any other soundcard (or mixer + soundcard) and route the channels from Traktor into the mixer.

Try to install the DJM-250mk2 drivers, restart your PC/Mac, then open connect the mixer and open the DJM-250 config. panel. Route the channels to USB (on the mixer: USB-Phono-Line) and choose the channels on the PC/Mac for every output. Now you know what to do, don't forget to put Traktor on external mixer mode.

In case of any other doubt, just post here.

See you.

Please, see: https://support.native-instruments.com/hc/en-us/articles/210273865-TRAKTOR-SCRATCH-Certified-Mixers-for-Timecode-Control-with-TRAKTOR-SCRATCH-PRO

Yes, let's say that it's possible to use the timecode - if you hack Traktor. To do that, you should change some values inside the program (using HexEdit). But I do not recommend you to do that, since it can suddenly close your Traktor (I did it once, a long time ago. It's too risky to play live, in my opinion...)
