DDJ-SB2 : HELP!! Hardware disconnected

I have recently bought a pioneer DDJ-SB2 controller and when i plugin into my mac computer the Serato dj Intro just comes does connect it, it aonly come up with hardware disconnected.

PLEASE HELP!!!!

You have not mentioned which mac, if it's a mac with USB C then there is a known issue of the SB2's not working via USB hubs. 

I have this exact same issue with my mac, pc works fine as long as I dont use a hub
