DJM900NXS2 - No sound to computer
Hello. I am trying to record audio from my 900nxs2 to my computer over USB, and its not working at all.
Setup: 2x CDJ2000NXS2, DJM900NXS2, digital audio from the cdjs, music is playing from a USB stick and not directly from Recordbox on the PC
Computer is a 64 bit Windows 10, audio not working with eather Audacity, OBS studio or even showing any sign of output on in the recording settings on the computer.
I have installed the drivers, i have tried all the possible configurations in the utility manager, i have tried to switch USB ports on the mixer from A to B, i have tried both having the "midi" button turned on and off, and still nothing works...
Anyone know what to do? Thanks.

What channel do you have set to REC OUT, in Audacity it has to be 1/2.
As i typed, i have tried every chanel. Still not getting any sign of signal
I hope you can see how it is setup here and that i have tried all the settings, please tell me if you need any more info:
*PS* I mainly need this to work with OBS studio since i stream my sessions! If there is any sulotion to this. I know i can use a simple aux chord from the REC OUT on the mixer to a 3.5mm jack to my computer, but i dont think that sounds so good. Thats why i want the sound coming from the USB.
Same problem here. It worked great over USB a while back, then wouldn't work for ages, then I managed to get it to hear it in RKB but nothing else.
I also want to use it for OBS, and I have in the past succeeded with this and it worked brilliantly. Now OBS won't recognise it in any which way.
I really hope there is an answer to this because using a line in is so low quality it isn't worth it and has killed my online broadcasts. I'm actually at the point of looking to sell the DJM and get a Xone92.
Well I have one answer, Audacity and OBS don't support ASIO audio devices so they won't see the record input. Have you tried Voicemeeter?
I actually have tried Voicemeeter, but it still doesn't get any input signal..
Do you have some sort of tutorial on how to setup Voicemeeter properly? Since there aint much out there about it...
@Pulse > i have tried your guide. First of all, it's a pain in the ***, second of all, i ONLY got it to work once! I just get DJM-900NXS2 AISO Driver status = OFF, while it is flashing in red at the HARDWARE OUT in Veoicemeeter.... Any help on this?
@SaminiX > lol - yep, it's a PITA for sure because it's not meant to be done! You have NO IDEA how many iterations of software combos and configurations I went through to find this solution! ;)
Did you be sure to deselect the DJM-900's ins and outs from ASIO4ALL so they're not available within that software? Even if the parent item is not illuminated, the sub-items (IN / OUT) may still get activated. To be sure they're available for Voicemeeter Banana, you need to turn them off in ASIO4ALL before even launching VMB.
Okey so i finally got it to work, BUT without ASIO4ALL. But this problem accured: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aTy8Y6zmsmU
Note: it was lagging just like this that one time it acually started working with asio4all. It just sounds lika some sort of gate or smt... If you have any fix for this im glad to hear :)
I found a solution what I do is record with Adobe Audition and then use my creative sound card plug in " what u hear " to capture audio into OBS through USB or u could just use the REC out on the back of the mixer into line in on the computer and remove the noise with a noise removal plugin.
Yeah, all this can be avoided if you don't mind using two audio interfaces (sound cards) and running the REC output into another input, but most users on a laptop don't have that option.
The other use-case is if you're NOT using any software, the REC input can be sent through Voicemeeter (or Voicemeeter Banana) to convert it from ASIO > WDM so OBS can use it, with much lower latency.
Well I found a solution, and it must be what I'd done in the past.
For some reason, using a spare USB3.0 dock (even though it's plugged into a USB2.0 socket on the PC) works problem free. I can't for the life of me work out why, it makes no sense, but it works.
So the USB from the mixer goes into an extension lead, which is plugged into a cheap, un-powered, switched USB3.0 dock, which in turn is plugged into a spare USB2.0 socket on my machine. My machine does have 2x USB3.0 sockets but one is being used for a A/I and the other used for a separate, better quality powered USB3.0 dock which manages all my spare USB/MIDI devices.
Finally I found a solution :)
I was searching and testing for hours and hours for a FB livestream for tomorrow night. Now I got it - just in time...
First of all: My software is up to date. That means:
DJM-900NXS2: Firmware v2.05 and driver v1.110
I installed VoiceMeeter Banana.
Setting up the routing for the DJM (The german name is "Einstellung-Dienstprogramm" don't ask me for the english name, just search for djm^^). With ASIO buffer size 192 and output USB 9/10 als MIX(REC OUT). Other settings doesn't matter.
Now start Rekordbox and choose the mixer as audio Interface. Don't proceed until you get a signal. As long as you are working ist has to run. (Maybe you can get round, by using the ASIO driver natively and not the integrated one.)
Settings for VoiceMeeter Banana: Set A1 to ASIO DJM-900NXS2. Go to Menu->System Settings. Set "PATCH ASIO Inputs to Strips In 1" to 9 and 10. Set "PATCH BUS TO A1 ASIO Outputs" to 1 and 2. (This is where the magic happens ;) )
VoiceMeeter Banana brings a new audio interface to the system wich can be used as input for programs like audacity, audition, or like in my case Facebook.
I found the most important inspiration for this solution in this article.
Have a nice new years eve and let me know if this works for you.
I tried that too, doesn't work. I tried the new Pioneer guide step by step and that didn't work.
2x studio grade sound cards and I've resorted to a cheap Behringer analogue/digital converter just to stream and record consistently.
Yeah it took hours to find a working configuration and like 10 restarts of my computer. But now, if I follow the exact order, it works every time.
I totally agree, it's disappointing spending that amount of money on a product wich doesn't work fully compatible. My mixer broke after half a year and it took them 10 weeks to repair...
But lets work on your Problem. Do I get it right, it's working with rekordbox? What part of my "manual" does not work for you?
BTW: Now I also switched to OBS to stream to YouTube. Facebook hasn't good audio quality. It works fine.
I'm glad you got it working.
Don't worry about mine, I've lost so many days messing about with it I'm never bothering again. The guide I'm referring to is the Pioneer one on this website.
